  • I have just gone onto the Watchdog website and filled in their forms, if enough people do this then surely something will be done!!!!!
  • Hi
I don't know whether you'll have read a post I put on here earlier, but I've had problems with the Cheadle site, and found out today that the company has ceased trading! There's been nothing official yet, but I found out from a firm on the same street, and vendors solicitors have had word as well. I know this won't help you, but it'll probably be a different course of action now to get things sorted. I'm having the same problems!!
  • Wolstenholmes are dreadful...we are all agreed on that.

Home Solicitors, on the other hand, I think we should wait before tarring them with the same brush.

If the CEO has left Wolstenholmes and taken a number of employees with him, that means that Home Solicitors are potentially very good. He is hardly likely to take dead wood with him; but very likely to cherry pick their best employees to come and work for his company.

I'm a newbie too and they caught me for £450 buy and sell -Transaction fell through in late november-cant contact them for their famous "no completion -no fee" plus they have the deeds to my house somewhere-How did you get your documents sent back.

I went to their Heald Green, Cheadle office in person at the end of November to get my house Deeds etc., back but fear it is too late for anything else now. They are still holding on to my probate file and a considerable amount of my money in their client account! If they have really ceased trading then I just hope the Law Society will guarantee my losses.

    Hi catwoman,

I think i may have got lucky with the paperwork, I've telephoned and emailed like evryone on here and on monday this week within my uninstruction email to them demanded that they return all my paperwork by special delivery and to provide the tracking number as they have no right to hold the paper work.

I got a message this morning from a jack Patmore who simply said the paperwork had been posted and gave me the tracking number. According to the royal mail, they have the document and it will be delivered tomorrow.
As for money they have my £450 and £76 for searches(they never actioned). Did you pay by credit card? if so speak to them to see what help they can give.

    I'll let you know

I wouldn't be surprised if it was an empty envelope.

Yes, please let me know whether you get your file back. The money they are holding in my client account is a little more than GBP 450 - it runs into thousands!!! I will try tomorrow to get my probate file sent to my new solicitors but I'm not holding out much hope. I have also asked Wolstenholmes to pay the money due to me before Friday but I'm not holding out much hope there either. It is really difficult for me because I don't live in the U.K. but another EU country. I cannot just fly over to the U.K. at the drop of a hat and bang on Wolstenholmes door. If I could, I would.

Thousands!!!!!!! ouch and i know how annoyed i am........

From what I've read elsewhere i doubt they'd open the door for you anyway. I read one post that said they had gone to the office and the solicitor would only ring them on their mobile even though they were in the reception area.

I went into there office today and the solicitor wouldn't come down the stairs because they said they were too busy.
