Thanks dalip, I have heard that it takes about 4 weeks for an account to be opened with the Co-op was that the case with you?

Just to update you. I got my new visa electron co-op card today:j :j So thats a wk from when i applied on the phone. I rang an 0800 number and registered straight away for on-line banking. They sent paying in evelopes for me to pay cheques in at the post office and if i want to pay cash in i just take my card and pay the cash over the counter. Just have to wait a couple of days for my pin number now. Hope this was useful.D

Luckily I haven't had to fill them in myself CAP have done it all for me and I just sign it :D got one to go through this morning and sign but really all the pressure has been taken off me with Simon and Owen's help - thank you guys!

Thanks dalip, am waiting to hear now about Co-op as applied over the phone on Tues am - bit worried though as I've only been living here for 3 months and the last address was 3 months too so I don't feel a very good bet

Well that certainly takes the stress out of it all. Can I just extend my thanks tp Simon and Owen for taking some of the stress off the lovely MOT's shoulders :T. There are some lovely people around.

If Co-op refuse you at all make sure you ask them why and ask them to reconsider. They quite often open accounts on appeal. They might just need some extra paperwork.

It's very rare for them to refuse an application as long as you stress it's the cashminder you want coz of BR.
You may get referred (i did) but it wasn't a problem, think it was just because i'm not on the electoral role.

    Hiya MumOfTwins

We opened our Cashminder accounts before going BR. Unfortunately when we spoke to the OR's Assistant and she said we had jumped the gun and that these account would be frozen as well :( We had quite a chunk of money in them - salary, rent, etc - and had arranged all the DDs so were quite upset.

Spoke to the Co-Op and they were quite happy for the accounts to remain open, it was only the OR who had an issue with it  Anyway, the Co-Op sorted out new cashminder accounts for us again over the phone with no problems at all - in fact, I asked to speak to a Supervisor to say how incredibly helpful the staff always were when we called.

Basically I wouldn't worry about them refusing you and can wholeheartedly recommend them :D

Thanks Merry, its all so damned confusing - need to make sure that DD's get paid but also need to have some cash too  . Have just paid a couple of bills early and my CAP rep has just rung to say that the court date is now the 16th July so a week on Wednesday  but at least my bills will have been paid.

You just make sure you're utilities are paid so you have no issues with that afterwards, and please don't worry about your cashminder account - it will get sorted.
