Yes please do! I think I may go and open a Post Office basic account in the next day or so and get everything transferred into that - by that I mean maintenace and Tax Credits! then when everything is done I will look at Barclays or Co-op as they seem to have more services for their basic accounts.
Its just my car that I'm really worried about

savagevixen was allowed to keep a vehicle that was worth up to £3,500 - 4,000 (ish) by her OR. Mainly because it was needed for frequent hospital trips for the children if I remember correctly, so it's not out of the question to keep it.

Hi again!
I'll leave all the detail on bankruptcy to the experts on here. Just 2 points:
1. car values have dropped in the last few months due to increasing fuel prices and the effects of the credit crunch. Try whatcar or similar again and you may find your car's value has dropped.
2. Don't forget to include your rent arrears to your old landlord in your bankruptcy:)
This is hopefully your last battle. The only way is up!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Hi MOT,
I have followed your threads on the DFW and your strength in getting through your adversity. Look at this as the final step on your road to getting your life back.
Having been on this board for a while I have yet to hear of Co-op freezing a BR's Cashminder account.
All the best with it all and any questions you have just ask there is usually someone aroud who can help or point you in the right direction.

Hi MoT

I'm another one who followed all your troubles last year and the courage and determination you showed through such a difficult time are a lesson for us all.
If you can look at BR as another hurdle for you to overcome and apply that same fighting spirit you did all those months ago, you'll be just fine
I don't know much about keeping cars in BR so I'l leave that to the experts to advise you on, but a couple of things I thought I should point out:
1. My co-op account was opened and fully functioning within a week. Electron card and PIN were with me within about 10 days. It's a great account and there's very few places that don't take the Electron card (Tesco on-line being one). The only thing you need to watch with it is transactions can take quite a while to show on-line and if you're not careful you can think you've got more money in than you actually have. Co-op operate a '3 strikes and you're out' rule, so if you go OD or have a DD returned (for example) 3 times they can close your account down. I keep a (very simple
) spreadsheet of everything going in and out of my account so I can make sure I know where I am with it.
2. The Post Office account is only for benefit payments. You mentioned maintenence payments above? From your ex for the twins? This wouldn't be able to be paid into that account I'm afraid. Maybe he could pay for in cash for a month or 2 while you get yourself sorted out
You also need a letter of referral from the DWP for this account. Sorry, I don't know a lot about it, but I remember when we were looking into it last year....... might be worth asking on the benefits board about it
If you have any questions at all or any concerns, then please do post them - I can pretty much guarantee that whatever you're worrying out or whatever you're going through someone will have been there before and (more importantly) come out the other side
Best of luck,
Scarlett xxYou can't control everything in life....... your hair was put on your head to remind you of that

I think Merry had hers frozen originally but that was a timing issue if I remember right (she had loads in there due to rent advance etc and the OR originally took a liking to it  ).
It took mine about a week to open but that was coz I was referred, if it hadn't it'd been open the same day.
For the car i'd definitely say get a letter from your doctor re your hip and include a copy with your BR petition so the OR will see it.
Cars are valued using the parker guide but "officially" value isn't a criteria it's more to do with necessity.:hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0
