My current Monitor has speakers attached to the sides. Would I have to buy seperate ones with a flat screen then?
Speakers are not that common with monitors these days, some have them, but they tend to be in the minority

That's a bit strange. Will have to make sure I get one with speakers.

However external will sound M U C H better, the small internal ones really are *rap and increases the cost, spend it on a better monitor and your eyes will thank you.
Regarding resolution its simply 96 dpi X number of inches across the screen
96 is the dots per inch, made up of the three coloured pixels to create a dot.
so your measurement of 13" (really 13.3") screen is:-

    96 X 13.3=1280 (dpi)
  • I just got this.
it's rather nice, very bright and sharp, and imo a steal at 102£ ;)

So I buy a better monitor and external speakers? How much does a good pair of external speakers cost?

I'll spend it on a better monitor then - I need to protect my eyes as they aren't perfect as it is!

    Looks good.

    PC Interface DVI, VGA (HD-15)
Is that VGA the VGA I need for my PC connection?

I should also add that I received some money today after a successful County Court claim, so my budget has risen :)

    I have a new monitor.

It's only 15" but it is LCD and most importantly FREE!

Someone gave it to use about an hour ago.

Maybe I shall give this one a try before paying for a new one?

Well, it's up and running apart from sound.

What colour hole does the speaker cable go into on the PC and how will I know if the speakers are compatible?

Tried every combination, but no sound :o
