Unless you're really on a tight budget, I'd spend a bit more, and go for a 17" one which support 1280x1024 resolution, as tradetime suggested.
I was wrong about the prices - they seem to have gone up quite a bit since I bought late last year. Looks like around £105 is more the norm now. You probably won't go far wrong going for a products from LG, Samsung or BenQ, though the Acer at £96.99 gets a couple of good reviews and has a 3 year warranty...
I am on a really tight budget for the next couple of months, but can stretch to £100 if need be.
800*600 is what I have been used too for 7 years though, so not a big problem.
I'll have a look around. Just want to make sure I get one that is compatible.0 -
Yes, it's 17" now i've measured it diagonally - I never knew that and now feel such a fool
800 x 600 works for me as the text is bigger (I hope that's meant to be right)
I just want to make sure I get the right monitor for the best price as the one I am using is worrying me a little
You can set your resolution to whatever suits you best, if it works for you then it's not wrong, a 15" monitor would seem small I think after using a 17", it's easier to go up in size much harder to go down.Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

Looks good.
All those numbers mean little to me - ms response time etc.
Something that is equal to my current one is fine
Are Amazon reliable?0 -

Right, so a 17" should be the minimum then.
Anything that works though, I'm a beggar rather than a chooser right now0 -
I would try and avoid going below 17" if it were me, my experience suggests you would notice the difference quite a lot. I also notice your current monitor has speakers, most flat panels do not, or do you use separate speakers?
Re Amazon, yes I have shopped through Amazon a lot and they have not let me down so far, I would be on about 30 is purchases of various items, regards monitors 2 of the ones I am currently using were bought from Amazon.Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

I did the same for years to get the text and icon size I liked, but recently found that with LCD monitors you get a much better, sharper image if you set the resolution to the monitor's "native resolution" (i.e. the max it will take) and then use Display Properties, Appearance, Font Size to give a suitable size of text.0 -

My current Monitor has speakers attached to the sides. Would I have to buy seperate ones with a flat screen then?
I've only ever bought small things from Amazon. If I'm going to be buying something like a monitor from someone, I like to hear reviews on their service first. Good to hear they are quite good.0 -

I'll see what I can buy and adjust accordingly I guess. As long as I get a nice new monitor.
I'm hoping they are easy to set up. I have a VGA connection it seems but where something used to plug into the back of the power supply, it now plugs into an adaptor as the new power supply doesn't have a hole for it. I'm hoping that's not an issue.0 -
No, you will get a nice, shiny new mains lead.0

Good good. As long as it's simple enough for someone as technophobic as me, that's all I ask0
