Hmm, I did used to be scared of the dark when I was little!
Feel a bit more positive this evening. Further to yesterday, renewing my phone contract, I had a good look round their site today and have discovered that if I go over my allowance for the month, it's cheaper to use another pay as you go SIM rather than carry on using the contract one (they charge 40p + VAT per minute on contract if you go over your allowance, where as PAYG is 20p/ minute - or can get a deal for £7.50 for a 5 day pass to the same network, which would be really handy). And I have SIM cards lying around from having sent off for free ones, so can set one of them up.
I also phoned the original creditor of the debt that I got court form for, they confirmed that I should pay the firm named on the form, so will get that filled in, think you can do it online. Weirdly the total is less than I thought I still owed, so can't complain too much.
Got home to find Clubcard vouchers - only £1.50 but that'll get me a few bits. Also, when I signed up to the Glutafin site a while back they were doing a free 'sample hamper' which I thought would be tiny packets of things, but there was a big cardboard box on my doorstep tonight with full sized packs of two kinds of pasta, two kinds of flour/ bread mix, biscuits, crackers, two loaves of bread, and a pack of pizza bases! Couldn't have come at a better time for my purse, and my stomach - resorting to cheap white bread because it was reduced has not had a good effect on it.
Amazing how little things can cheer you up! I might even go to Tesco and spend the £1.50 later :rotfl:Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
I am pleased you are feeling a little brighter today my friend xBut these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0

Hey, thats good news about the glutafin! Well done you.
Glasses - noooo! I don't really care about having glasses, I care about acknowledging that I'm ageing in new and awful ways. I care about rebalancing my life so that I don't get stuck in front of the computer. I honestly don't think my eyes are the real issue - the rebalancing is the real issue, for me, anyway. But thank you all for the concern, its very much appreciated.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Ooo a nice hamper, now what to spend the £1.50 on. A few weeks ago i would have suggested a marathon spend on the curry sauce at 4p a can, they have put it up but still yum. Value tomato soup is 17p a can, cheaper than buying real toms or even the tins and making it..it is a veritable fortune...or a buy one get one free pack of mince tarts..mmmmmmBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
Well I was planning some brie at £1 and a couple of tins of chopped tomatoes, but the brie is no longer on offer and tomatoes are 33p a tin  So I ended up with cheshire cheese - £1.58... lovely on free crackers (and the gluten free crackers are surprisingly nice). Funny, my horoscope today said that sometimes the best things in life are free, and that I have more of them than I thought I did.. read into that what you willDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

What a life lesson! Good stuff - how nice you can pop out like that. Have a good one today, I won't be on very much after about, ooh, 3 minutes, so I'll see you tomorrow.

I do keep getting 'rescued' by something at the last minute, last month it was Ciao money appearing in bank the week before payday - this month Clubcard vouchers and free food. I've had two free cakes this morning as well :rotfl: Can't depend on that always happening though!
Got court form filled in last night, couldn't do it online. Just need to buy a stamp at some point. Tried PAYG sim cards but they must have expired as are rather old so have sent off for a new (free) one. Hoping to get money back that my friend owes me today - will check bank later.
Feeling a bit mean as it's Children In Need and there's various things going on at work - can't spare much so have brought in the contents of my coppers jar to give to the various collections
Got a day away with some friends and OH tomorrow, which I'm looking forward to but struggling to find my usual level of enthusiasm about things.
Also need to sort out sold CDs over the weekend, and will hopefully get housing benefit form printed out today and get that filled in.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Thats all good! You know what I think about the "getting rescued"? (I'm going to tell you anyway, of course!) I think its about things you've set in motion coming to fruition weeks later - after all, you did *earn* the Ciao vouchers and the Tesco points. I think its about always having something on the go thats about to earn money.
Speaking of which ..... go to my thread in about five minutes, when I've had time to post there!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Think you may well have a point there!
Children in Need has been pretty low key here so far - we entered the quiz at work so my £1 for today went to that.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0
