The pain you feel in not having him by you is as deep as the love you feel for him when he is - if that makes sense. What a tough decision, but I'm sure you've done the right thing. He'll bring so much pleasure to those he has gone to - what lucky people - and he gets to spread happiness to others, all thanks to you. xx

thanks guys. i never thought it could hurt like this. part of me says "he's an animal for goodness sake" but i think the fact that i have described him in my first post as "a person" just goes to show he is far far more than that.
Looking on the dark side, he could've been slaughtered at 4 months old, that was where he was heading. he has a fantastic life ahead of him now and i am so so happy that is the case.

Wol2 you ok hon? heard about your injury big squeaky hugs right back, and thank you forgetmenot for posting when you are going through so much yourself.

DFW is a fab place to be. xxxxxx

Hey Pania - how you doin? Horses are definately much more than just animals - mine is my personal therapist! You have saved him from a horrible fate and have ensured he has a good future - you should be proud of that. There is a lovely poem which just about sums up why horses are so special x x x

Where in this wide world can man find nobility without pride, friendship without envy or beauty without vanity? Here, where grace is laced with muscle, and strength by gentleness confined.
He serves without servility; he has fought without enmity. There is nothing so powerful, nothing less violent, there is nothing so quick, nothing more patient.
England’s past has been borne on his back. All our history is his industry; we are his heirs, he our inheritance.

Hey penguin,i'm doing ok. had a glass of wine, eaten copious quantities of pringles, (my comfort food) and done a bridget jones with the sad songs and now in bed typing.
That poem is lovely, i think i have it on a bookmark somewhere but yes it sums it up perfectly. thanks hon. xxx
