Exactly!! well said!! Mine might have to go up a little this month, as my car has chosen this time to blow it's exhaust! Come January though, I'm hitting the debt so hard it will hurt!
Good to see you CMD!
And you too Piquant!
Mine will rise a bit too this month if I get the 0% credit card I applied for (balance transfer fee). I am not going to add it on and will try and pay it off in bits and pieces so it doesn't have too much of an impact!)Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Thanks guys.
I got Barclaycard statement and been charged £12 for late payment. I thought I had paid on time or in time so have to check what I did wrong. A bit annoying. Paid £10 towards Barlcayloan today though.

I've noticed on various threads that quite a few of the banks are changing payment dates without proper notification, meaning that they can charge a late payment.
Fairly sure I heard on the news that there are plans to stop them doing this under the treating the customer fairly FSA regulation.
I am going to leave ebaying now until the new year, have lost a little motivation, but will be fired up again come January. Have to be really as I've joined the £20k by Christmas 2009! my total currently stands a proud 0

I have joined that too Piquant. I have debts of 21k but want to clear 15k and realistically I would love if I was sub 10k by next Xmas so that would mean clearing just over 11k.
Hobsch,
That's terrible. I find my credit card payments used to take days to go in so I have a direct debit for the minimum amount and then I throw in money when I can during the month. It's so frustrating getting a late fee of £12 especially if you have paid the money in.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

I've noticed we have similar amounts owed, we can go downwards towards zero together.
Really hoping the £20k challenge kicks my butt into gear, I've been a bit careless recently

Definitely! I like that, downwards towards 0!
I have been focussed since August but am frustrated because my OH is in uni and I keep thinking how much quicker we could do it if he had full-time (or even part-time) wages. I am finding it quite hard supporting the 2 of us, paying crazy rent, supplementing some of our mortgage (flat rented out) and repaying debt as well. I earn a good wage and none of it goes on me.
Sorry guys, turned into a bit of a rant there.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Not visited for quite a while now.
Not gone back to the old ways but had family illness problems, visits to hospital etc and with Christmas coming up have not been able to clear much of the debt - which I expected. Had become slightly depressed about the whole debt thing and was a bit down, but have quickly come to my senses. So back on MSE for the first time in a while and a quick update to say I am still around.Total Debt now £22,525.07 Start Debt £32,732.36

Hiya,
Sorry to hear about the illness in your family. Try to log on to MSE as much as you can as it will help you to get back on track. I haven't been able to clear as much either, but I think everyone is in the same boat with Xmas. Just think of the New year as new start and as a time to really start getting the debts down.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Thanks.
I will be logging on more. I am not going to be down at all about not being able to pay much off this month, and probably not much in January but I will pay as much as I can and then start properly in Feb.Total Debt now £22,525.07 Start Debt £32,732.36

It doesn't matter about not paying off much Hobsch. The important bit is controlling the spending. I used to start spending more if I'd had one minor slip, some sort of mad punishment thing perhaps. I believe you have to sort a lot of the attitude changes along the way and in some ways this is more difficult than simply paying an extra fiver to a card here and there.
Glad you're back
