I have a braun one with a plastic shalf, its fabby fab and hasn't even hinted at melting, I do make hummus in a food processor though. but the mini chopper on the hand held one is great for sauces, dips, marinades where you don't want to make oodles.

I think I'm glad I've got the one with the big jug as well as I seem to use that lots too! It's the sort of make that will last you years so whatever you spend it's economical :)

Please buy one with a metal shaft not these plastic ones which warp and melt - if you go for a braun buy the better one. IMHO it is much better and I have had mine for years and years and Yes I DO USE IT

I agree 100% my Braun gets used all the time, it can be immersed in boiling soup, the attachment is used for chopping or making puree for sauces and curries. You get the beater attachment for whipping cream, making cakes and a jug for making mayo etc. Worth every penny and going strong for years.

MR T have refused to take back the 1st blender even tho they can trace the CC transaction. They said the reciept is the guarantee and without it there is no guarantee. I stated it isnt fit for purpose & argued the toss with someone who didnt know the basics of consumer law  I know this isnt veryh money-saving but after 20 mins, I just dumped it on the customer service desk and just shouted "oH WHATEVER!" and stormed off in a huff :o Why I bought another I dont know. TBH they are getting a bit sick of me at the CS desk at my tescos with all my R&R and voucher moans :o So (Ive binned it and will send OH to robert dyas in the morning to get me something decent.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

My braun has a plastic blender part and it manages to go into hot soup when it's still simmering :) Maybe braun plastic is thicker!

I got a braun one for about £12 or £13 (I think but check on the website) at ASDA a few weeks ago. It is much better than the £5 cheap brand one I bought there which was pretty useless. Definitely worth the extra money.
