I would just say make sure you are going to use all the bits, don't waste your money and space on something you don't use.

Well, that's why I don't want to spend hundreds on something that sits in the cupboard, and why I haven't yet bought one. I haven't found anything that I think I'd use enough.

So, the attachments for this one are:

pan blender - I'd use that as often as my stick blender, i.e. for soups n stuff, so that's a yes.
masher - I hate mashing spuds, but like really smooth mash, so that's a yes. :j
whisk - I think I'd use this occasionally. Would it do cake mix, or is it just for sauces etc.?
blades & mini chopper - I assume this fits with the bowl to make a veg slicer / chopper? If so, that's a yes too.
0.75ml beaker - every now and then, I suppose. :p

I think at less than £50 I can afford to gamble - wouldn't be so keen if it was much more.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.
  • Mash spuds you can do with a whisk to get really smooth mash, and the balloon whisk should do cakes, nothing too heavy and thick maybe, but it is good and powerful so you never know, but definitely for a basic sponge, and meringues it would work, also for whipping cream etc. I had a wee hand blender that died, and I have used the balloon whisk on my blender (rather than taking the big machine out of the cupboard) once or twice for cakes and it was fine for them but it wouldn't last too long if you were making cakes with it every day, I wouldn't think!

I think Father Christmas might have to find something else for me - I can feel my wallet itching. :D

my mum bought me this last Christmas (didn't ask if i wanted it!) but it has proved very useful, doesn't take up much space, and saw DD2 through her GCSE food project last year - she got an A*

    Thanks a bunch. :(

Now I want that too. It makes pastry and grates cheese. :D

  • I've got an older version of the same blender and really like it. I use the stick regularly in soups, the mini chopper fairly often for herbs, garlic, onion, and the bigger jug 1-2 times a month for things like breadcrumbs. My version had an ice grinder that I have never used, but overall it has been great. Think I have had it about 5 years and it's just now starting to show signs of wear.

I got one of these the other week from Choice Brands, cost me about £20 quid and addicted to using it!! Lurve it :)

  • So what do you think to this?

That looks fab :T As this has fallen from the front page of OS, I'll add it to the existing thread so that you can see other models :)
