I know how you feel. I once made an engineer get really angry because I was telling him how to do his job.

I finally apologised and he made good work thereafter.

Its a shame you didnt feel apologetic until after he had left. Shame.

We bought a fridge freezer with a drinks dispenser, got it home and it dosen't work because of a crack.
The engineer came out a month ago to fix it, didn't fix it. So we complained to comet again they ordered the wrong bit for him to come out again. Then had to wait for another one. So he finally turns up today.
He said he couldn't see a crack and was making me out to be stupid, so i rang my hubbie and asked him to come home and show him and then he said i was being abusive. so i told him that if he had done his job properly the first time he wouldn't be back again, still not knowing what to do. He had the bit in his hand all he had to do was take it off and put it back.
So he said i hadn't needed to ring hubbie and he wasn't hanging around to be shown how to do his job and i said well he obviously can't do it or he would have known what to do. So he made to leave and i said well f off then as i was so mad by this point. what happened to the customer being right and i was going to complain about him to comet and he said that's your choice.

Sounds like he was right when he said you were abusive. And rude and arguamentative.

To be honest a lot of this looks like its your own fault.

This is what happens when you're rude to people. You need to learn from it. I've got no sympathy for you. Perhaps when you do complain to comet you'll do a better job of it than this and speak to people properly.

So you save up for 4 months buy a fridge freezer for £300. You expect it to work. When the engineer came out he had the bit in his hand to replace the old bit. This was the second time he came out. I have never met anyone like him, i usually make workmen a cup of tea.
There is no way this guy was a qualified engineer. He didn't fix it the first time he came out.
  • ITS NOTHING TO DO WITH BEING RUDE . these shops etc they have no customer service etc they wriggle out of there obligations at the drop of a hat its called british customer service, amounts to a bunch of low paid oiks doing there employers bidding , cant blame them i know, but if some one is ripping me off forget manners .in my case i dfs guy said my suite was not faulty ie dye was coming of the covers after an argument becouse thats what he turned it in to he agread with me , even the credit card company tried to wriggle out of helping me until i quoted the consumer credit act to them , all a bunch of ripp of merchants in my book .
i remember when i was a young dude and rented my first flat the estate agent wouldnt give me my deposit back, said the flat was fine but he was keeping the money for wear and tear i said i want my money or i will throw you out of the window, his reply if you feel that strongly about it come back to the office and you can have it back bunch of chancers in my book.

    Load of rubbish Lone Ranger!
  • OMG im sorry but I used to work with these low paid OIKS(assume your talking about call centre staff) as you so nicely put it.

First of all if you bought the item took it home and it was defected why the hell did you agree for it to be repaired??? Seems a rookie mistake tbh, item has to be replaced if its within 28days and faulty (But you already knew that obviously). Now the fact is you've agreed for the item to be repaired it can take a reasonable amount of time, usually around 4 weeks can be more if a service centre manager authorizes it. Also this usually only for parts delivery, excludes call-outs.

The engineer was out at your property ad you was rude to him, you have made your life so difficult. Trust me, everything you do from here on will go through the same engineer and the same service center, and trust me from my experiences they will not budge. I am so glad I no longer have to deal with know-it-all customers no longer as TBH you read 1 section of the sales of goods act and you know everything. Really used to pee me off!!

I think people bring things upon themselves when it comes to service. This seems to have happened to the op and from what I've just read from Lone Ranger I bet he's done exactly the same as well. The reason why? I've had 13 years of watching the public working in retail, people like this have no self awareness (like Alex on Big Brother if you've watched for an example, but as with self awareness she doesn't know or achknowledge that. Thats the way it works). I can gaurantee if either post a comment back they will be completely in denial.
