Parents who live in Richmond upon Thames and use real nappies can claim £50 cash back against the prior purchase and use of real nappies or a nappy laundry service. One claim per baby and recipt or invoice must be from the current financial year (April 09 -March 10) for more information and to sign up for the cashback, visit the richmond council website. ( sorry I am not allowed to post the link...)0

Thank you, again, MSE for another really helpful article! For both ecological and economic reasons, we will be using reusable nappies for our first baby, due in 20 weeks, and the Rash of Savings article combined with the links and a lot of the info on this thread has been really really really informative.
For anyone in the area, the London Borough of Sutton do a cash back scheme for cloth nappies too - only £35 but it all helps!0 -
Hi, just to let everyone know - Real Nappy Week 2010 runs between 26 April -2 May. If you're thinking of buying reusable nappies now is the time. Last year there were loads of special offers available - I bought a load of bumGenius nappies (I think it was buy-5-get-one-free). I tend to use www.lizziesrealnappies.co.uk but I;ve also found www.thenappylady.co.uk useful. GoReal has a nappy finder facility listing all UK retailers. Also don't forget to contact your local council as many have cash back offers available.
Happy shopping!0 -
Can I add if you live in East Staffordshire Borough Council area you can claim a whopping £100 cashback PER CHILD using cloth nappies. There are T&Cs the most important being your child(ren) must have been born after April 2009, you'll need receipt(s) and a stamp from your health visitor, and you can only claim for nappies (not accessories) but for this amount you can virtually set yourself up for nothing!
I run Burton Real Nappies and I offer free impartial advice and work with Staffs & Derbyshire councils to promote cloth nappies at their nappuccino events. See your council waste management site for details of your nearest event.0 -
Surely people should be looking for the best value nappies not the 'cheapest' ones.
Very irresponsible encouraging parents to switch brands every 2 minutes just to save a few quid, babies welfare is paramount.0 -
Hi, I'd agree with the others. Your really need to get some advice from one of the main independent websites. I started off jsut choosing nappies randomly and wasted a lot of money as a result. The website people will discuss with you your priorites (slim fitting, organic, quick-drying etc) and will help you narrow things down. Once you've narrowed it down to 2 or 3 nappies you can then try a few out and see how you get on (another reason for waiting until baby comes along). I would definately recommend:
www.lizziesrealnappies.co.uk
www.nappylady.co.uk
It WILL all become clear - before you know it you'll be obsessed with them!!
Best of luck0 -
Hi. I was given a discount code for cloth nappies and accesories from the online shop where I've bought them before. The woman who runs the company is really nice. I've called her a number of times for nappy questions, and bought all our cloth nappies from her. I find her prices are quite good compares to the big shops, so with a 15% discount, it's a really good deal. Hopefully this can be used by someone out there.
The discount code is SSGF708 and valid for 15% off at plush pants (just search google for the exact website address) and valid until May 31st.0 -
my baby boy has only worn disposables a handful of times and those times he leaked at night so dont be put off by that statement that you WILL need sposies. A terry or a tots bots with a booster and a good wrap are enough, no leaks with approx 12 hours on. AND no nasty rashes either! There has been a recent study which says that disposables make the genitalia too hot which is not good for boys' future health/fertility!Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
I have done reading too!
