I've tried ringing them before and it seems hit and miss.

Yes I have Classic Vantage as well.
The ticking clock has only ever appeared with me when I have set up a completely new payee.
    Well that's a new one.
I had it once in July/Aug 2008 (to an existing payee) -then not again until last Sunday (again existing payee).

Waited until nearer the end of the day. Tried for my 2nd lot of £500 over the phone. It didn't go through. This guy told me that there is a daily limit of £500 and once you've done one, that's it.

All I can conclude is that it is hit and miss, which is what I thought in the first place. Oh well.

    You were lucky, I wasn't.

We are trying to work out whats a "hit" and what's a "miss" - wondering if its account no related. I have the facility on my sole account but not on my joint account

I may be wrong but some banks seem to be able to handle FPs at weekends, and some schedule them for Monday. If this is so, maybe the front post could say which?

    ING cannot instigate FPs.
If you had 'pushed', Nat West would have sent it via FPs and ING would have received it.

Thanks for that, I'll remember it for future.

Unfortunately Natwest's idiotic card reader system makes it a bloody hassle.

Soon as my interest free overdraft is taken I'm off elsewhere. Stupid contraption.

I called LTSB this morning to request a same day payment to my LTSB credit card. Apparently this is not possible and the soonest the payment could be sent was Monday and would then take 3 working days to clear!!!

Fine I said, if YOU can't do it I'll use a bank that CAN!!!

I then insisted they send £xxx via FP to my Barclays account (she was gobsmacked when it arrived in destination account before she could finish saying it could take up to 2 hours lol) and from there I paid my LTSB credit card via FP too!

How the hell can an external bank manage to re-route my money via two different accounts instantly when LTSB can't even manage it within their own system?!?! Madness!!!
“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”
  • Made two payments during last couple of days through LTSB - both went by Fast Payment ....

Have always had FP from natwest go through in seconds......until Monday
Set up a new payee and sent £1 - Received OK. Followed up with £2500 - didn't arrive allthough it said it was going FP!!
To cut a long story short - Tuesday found it was in a queue for security checks -supplied the right info and it was in the account within seconds
Never happened before, but just a warning in case you would have payment/OD issues if a FP in was delayed.
