POPPYOSCAR, SMOKEY, PENPIN, CANDYGIRL AND YOUR DAD and anyone else I've missed hugs to you.
It's another bright, breezy day here. Have been for a run and hung the washing out.
Have lots to do today, need to go to Lidl, the butcher and farm shop. Also want to go to the allotment as I have veg to go in and I want to carry on weeding.
Having real problems getting DS out of bed at the mo, I'm sure it must be just as bad for his teachers.
DAZI being induced, ouch! At least it will be quick.
RMAC hope you feel less sick today.
Welcome CONFUSED NEWBIE.
AUSSIE glad your sis is doing well, can't see you as Florence Nightingale though!
Have a good day all.

Morning Everyone
A v busy day today. First I've got to load the trailer with some Laylandii that I cut down yesterday it is phase 1 in a long process. Then i have to clean the house. Followed by a birthday party at the soft play place in the next town, dh is meeting me there so he can take over and I can go to visit my dad who had a knee replacement yesterday. After all that I'm hoping that dh will have made pizza for tea!Sorting my life out one day at a time0 -
Morning all,
It's lovely here (luckily cos I forgot to take the washing in yesterday, lol). I'm up to do some uni stuff before everyone descends, so it's lovely and peaceful,
((((BIG Hugs)))) Candy, Smokey & anyone else who needs one.
Planning a study and tidy day today, the washing/ironing is up to date and the dog's bed is washed, have to change the beds later and wash that. Then I'll do some cleaning and throw some mince and soya in the s.c. for a bolognaise sauce, will make enough to freeze a couple of family-sized portions. (Have a feeling I need to buy some mince first).
DD is back from a seaside camp tonight and they've had lousy weather so spag bol's a must, as it's her fave.
In between times I have a big essay to work on--40 credits:eek:, same weighting as my dissertation, which I'm also working on, so I'll focus on that today, and have a rest from my diss.
Have a lovely day, Jay, xxAnytime;)0 -
Have fun on the hen do Mioliere - weddings seem out of control these days - my family doesn't really do them unless we have to. Mum got married to her partner of 10 years when they found he was dying, ddad marired his partner of 30-odd years for tax reasons, dsis got married as she had to for her visa application when she went to canada and that's it. I eloped 24 years ago and got married for some goodness-knows-what reason and probably still am - presumably someone would have to tell me if I'm not. i've been to loads of Asian weddings though - my goodness - days and days of expensive events, millions of guests and the expense of flying in and accomodating relatives.
N9aev - do you know yet what you're going to do in the Big Smoke - give us a wave if you pass by West London - actually if you're going to Heathrow you will be very very close to me
got to phone w*rk in a bit - dd(11) "sick". I'm not pushing it as I'm in bad books anyway. School did deal with yesterday's problem but not in the way i expected. Welfare lady called her in and it went along the lines of "your Mum called - chin up - you're not that fat!" sigh. we are going to mostly be what we eat for the next week or two - hopefully dd won't notice that she's on a diet.
hugs to beth, candygirl, r.mac. pen-pin, smokey, poppyoscar, anyone else who needs one
stefI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
Hi all - just back with a coffee. DH has gone off to finish off the bathroom he has been constructing for a customer, now that the floor tiles have ben laid, grouted and sealed.
REDRUBY - fortunately, my DH is booked for quite a few weeks ahead but he has had calls from four people looking for work which he sees as a bad sign.
AUSSIE - I'm so pleased that your sister is doing so well; please give her a big (((hug))) and have one for yourself, too, because it's been such a worrying time for you.
DONNY-GAL - the thing I love whenever we are in Spain is how whole families take their strolls in the evenings and they are all dressed so elegantly, even the children. Obviously, it's a time of day they value because it's so much cooler but it's the value and respect they place on their children that I admire. It makes me want to be there right now! I'm so glad some of us are enjoying decent temperatures! I've never known such a dismal June as the one we are having here!
Well, I suppose I'd better clear up the breakfast things; the BM is on and the WM is going to go on in a minute and then I am going to go food shopping - heaven only knows how much that will cost. DONNY-GAL - have you noticed a corresponding rise in prices in Spain? I'd be interested to know whether other countries are going through the same or whether our Government is just making it worse for us!
Anyway, I'm off - will call back later. Have a great day everyone.

There are two factor affecting prices here - Firstly - Fuel has gone up, now €1.29 per litre for Diesel, impacted by the Second affect the Euro - The Diesel which would have been the equivalent of 90p a litre around Jan/Feb time, but with the lower £ it is now about £1.05 a litre. Food has gone up, but as I always convert I am not possibly the best person to ask, but the folk who live here and have been to the UK recently say that it is still far dearer in the UK. I still find food here, and eating out here far cheaper than the UK. I use the local markets, Lidl, Aldi and supermarkets and there is far more competiion. 8 supermarkets within a 20 minutes (winter) walk. Apart from Broadband, and new technologies which are not as advanced as us - yet!! we find most things cheaper. Housing market has slowed down, one or two building firms have folded, re-sales they are holding their own, we would get a bit more than what we paid, but with the Euro rate would be an fair increase, but this was to enjoy not for investment. Some very good bargains to be had in the second hand housing market, as some people have overstretched themselves, or decided to go back to the UK. More Dutch/French/Scandinanvian moving over here, which we like as it balances it out more and not such a English and/or German area. They seem to have the pennies at the moment. A bit like France really, if you go into the very rural areas the prices are much cheaper than towns/coast.
