On a bit of a different tack, does it have to be shelving units? We've just been putting up the top cupboards from an old kitchen in our garage and shed (bottom ones are no use as they don't have a top to them) for some extra storage. You might be able to pick something up like that for free somewhere

    Bump this up

I am after some metal sturdy shelves for our integral garage to store boxes, sewing materials etc I already got the cheap shelving for Argos which is fine but wont something a little wider, longer and taller to take some heavy items too

I looked at bigdug but seem pricey when you add postage on top, also some large garage mats as we use the garage for appliances and for cat to eat his food etc and it gets quite cold in there

I bought some of the Clarkes shelving units from Machine mart for my son's birthday. Good value for the money, I thought. The chap in the shop asked me if I wanted to buy the display model and I got a good discount. Later on my son went back for more and he asked to buy the display model. Which the shop was quite happy to sell to him at a discount.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Look out for someone having there kitchen refitted. I've got old kitchen units in my garage and they cost me nothing. Lots of shelves and drawers to hold stuff.

Good evening: we have these from Costco...top quality at an excellent price(around £40). The OH store his tools and plumbing/heating supplies on them so very sturdy.

Thanks all for your help :) Unfortunately we dont have a costco near by nor do I have a tarde card but that looks the job.

I seen some on ebay for 3 units for around £140 cash and very sturdy I may go for them as its nearby to me and can pick them up assuming they will fit in car as they meant to be heavy duty, dont have room for 3 at mo as I have lots of stuff in garage but MIL is getting a new house soon so she may have one off me at cost price as I get a better price for 3 rather than 2

One more question, I want to put some flooring down consisting of rubber matting. I have about 30% of the garage already carpeted with carpet tiles but I want the rest with rubber type matting

We have a fairly large length wise garage goes almost full width of semi. I am conufsed with sq foot

Seen some on ebay for 80sq feet, am I right in saying a sq foot is 12"x12" or 1 foot x 1foot, if thats right 80sq feet seems a hell of a size

    Thanks
  • Metal shelving is ideal for storing heavy items in the garage. These units are sturdy and practical storage and display solutions. And they are less prone to warping and sagging than wood.

See that this is one of those odd resurrection threads!

...but if anyone is after a shelf (in the year 2011!) I happened to see these coming in Lidl on Monday, decent size and weight capacity, galvanised so no rust. £34.99

    Just FYI peeps.
