Cheap but sturdy garage shelving/storage ???

Hi - hope someone can help.
Seeing as I now can't move for all the stuff (junk) in my garage (mostly littered all over the floor), I've decided it's time to get some shelving or cupboards up.
I'm after something relatively sturdy but cheap...
I just missed out on the bargain crazy boltless shelving and the argos clearance stuff... so anyone got any suggestions where I can find something that will do the job without costing a fortune?
Thanks
Ade

... although a trip to the nearest store can cost you a fortune ...0 -
Thanks grumbler... I've actually got something a bit like that Ikea shelf, but frankly it's not up to the job... shelves are sagging rather alarmingly.

Hi BigAde,
I think that you may get more replies on the In My Home board, so I hope that you don't mind if I move your thread over there.

Depending on what you want to store on the shelve you might want to look at something heavy weight from a diy store. eg metal legs and wooden shelves.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

I think that the metal shelving (eg in workshops or warehouses) you're after will be expensive......~£100 upwards. The shelving has to be load tested to ensure it's capable of holding heavy items.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the 'I wanna' and 'In my home' and Health & Beauty'' boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. I bought some metal shelving for the garage, but it was some years ago, from homebase.
While it was strong enough to hold what I needed it to hold, I was afraid of it falling on small children who also keep toys in there, so I secured it to the walls with screws.

I don't like the metal stuff myself because it rusts so you have to coat it with Hamerite. If you do go for metal, make sure you get decent stuff liek what Rikki suggested. The cheap white ones in DIY stores are not very strong.
Keter shelving is pretty good. I have loads of it in my garage and also at work. It is plastic but tough. The shelves I have are ventillated (from 1998) but the newer models they do now have the same re-inforced ventillated pattern but also a solid top so things can't slip through. My father bought several of these for his garage and I recently bought some to supplement mine when Homebase had them on offer.
Argos sell plastic racking which looks like the stuff I got from Homebase:

£19.99 per 5 tier unit. 150kg per shelf
They also do a heavyweight 5 tier unit (which I haven't tried) which appears to be metal with wooden shelftops which I think is what you are after. It is rated at a massive 350kg per shelf. It was £39.99 but they have now reduced it (as a clearance item) to £19.99 which seems an absolute bargain.

EDIT: Having re-read your initial post, I think this is what you have missed out on but when I just checked it online it was available again.
BTW, in the online photo it doesn't show that this can also be assembled as a workbench with shelves (shown in my old printed catalogue).0
