While it was strong enough to hold what I needed it to hold, I was afraid of it falling on small children who also keep toys in there, so I secured it to the walls with screws.

Know what you mean... I'll have to do the same.Ah! Good old trusty beer... I hope you never change.0 -
I have the metal type in my shed, fairly cheap from DIY stores but I would'nt recommend it. We have had it for a few years but it is looking a bit precarious now(rusty & wobbly).
We bought some sturdy wooden ones recently which were cheap from B&Q.0 -
santana-mx3 wrote:They also do a heavyweight 5 tier unit (which I haven't tried) which appears to be metal with wooden shelftops which I think is what you are after. It is rated at a massive 350kg per shelf. It was £39.99 but they have now reduced it (as a clearance item) to £19.99 which seems an absolute bargain.

EDIT: Having re-read your initial post, I think this is what you have missed out on but when I just checked it online it was available again.
BTW, in the online photo it doesn't show that this can also be assembled as a workbench with shelves (shown in my old printed catalogue).
Yep, that's the one I'd hoped to get - seemed a resonable price for something quite sturdy... I also liked the fact that you could assemble it as a workbench. Sadly it's not available for home delivery and none in a store anywhere near me.Ah! Good old trusty beer... I hope you never change.0 -
This may be of some use to you, strong and practical.

I got some 5 tier metal shelving from Homebase about 3 years back, i got 5 units in all goes along one side of the garage, bolted to the wall so the dont fall down.
They havent rusted or buckled and one of them has my tool chest full of tools and various other heavy items and its fine.
They cost around £17.99 each they look very similar to the Clarke one above but have metal shelves0 -
