The tv is under 1 year old so no the retailer cannot get out of trying to repair it for me.
As for country walks and reading books that is not the point. The choice to watch the tv that I bought with my hard earned money has been taken away from me through no fault of my own.0 -
Well it will be very hard for them to repair it without taking it away from you!0
-
So, if you were in my situation you would be quite happy for them to take your tv away for 2 weeks whilst they try and repair it?0
-
Yeah because it would get it fixed & I think somehow I'd manage with a smaller or borrowed tv for two weeks.0

Next you'll be telling us that if your iron breaks down you'll want one on loan while your's is getting repaired! Get real. We're talking about a TV here not a life support machine. Guarantees undertake to restore the goods to working order. They do not guarantee to maintain your lifestyle which in your case appears to be watching television. That's all there is to it I'm afraid.0 -
John Lewis have in fact agreed to replace my tv with a new one. This is what happens in my real world. I shall mark that down as a win for me. No reading books or walks in the country. Let's just hope that none of your pc's/laptops break down and you are left without for a similar period as going by your post counts your lifestyles seems to revolve around sitting in front of them.
Thank you, goodbye and goodnight.0 -
Thats rich coming from someone who sits infront of the TV all day!0

OP, I would go first for mental distress, then the cost of hire of a rental TV for the fortnight, then the cost of phone calls setting up said rental, then a portion of your TV licence because you missed two hours TV waiting for the rental set to arrive......STING 'EM!0

Thanks for the reply, it will probably warrant a 'Thanks' from your clique.0

Well, I'm at a loss to understand, really. Your TV broke down, they fixed it/replaced it - what more do you want? If it had been a cooker, and you had small children, or your freezer full of food, then fair enough, but it's a TV.0
