John Lewis 5 year guarantee

Options
Hi,

Looking for some advice please. Purchased a Panasonic Plasma TV from John Lewis on 23/6/07 so at time of writing TV is under 1 year old.

TV has now got a thin blue line running down the screen and have just had the tv repair people out from John Lewis today who told me the screen is broken and as such they will need to take it away for a minimum of 2 weeks to have the screen repaired/replaced.

Is this normal for John Lewis to do this considering how much I paid for the tv (£899) and considering it is still under 1 year old? Is there anything I can do about this?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

I agree. What else do you want them to do?
    Gone ... or have I?
  • Replace it with a similar one or give me a temp. one whilst they fix it.

It's only 2 weeks, and there is life outside of TV, and they are repairing it for free...
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Panasonic Tvs are normally reasonably reliable. What model was it?

  • They are repairing it as they are duty bound to under the terms of the guarantee. As for life outside of tv I am not disputing that.

JL were quite happy to lend me an old TV whilst my one was getting fixed.

    Did you ask them?
  • I did ask them about a replacement whilst it was being repaired but was told that neither JL nor Panasonic offer such a service.

Think yourself lucky, most retailers would try to get out of even repairing it.

As you have said yourself, they are repairing it, which is what they have agreed to do under their guarantee.

The weather is beautiful at the moment, I would use it as a reason for days out and lovely evening walks.

You have got to be kidding. :rotfl: Why is the world should they give you a temporary tv? Read a book for two weeks.
