When is a child too old for hugs, when they decide they are too old.
My boyfriends daughter (15) will often cuddle up to me on the sofa when we are watching a DVD. She is always cuddling up to her dad. His 23 years old son likes a cuddle now and again too.
My nephew went through a stage at 14 where is was so uncool to cuddle. At 16 he decided it was ok again. Hes 2 inchs taller than me and crushes me .
Your never too old to cuddle, its free and makes you feel happy and secure.
I love cuddling I do!!:rotfl: l love this site!! :rotfl:0 -
Never. I admit I rarely hug my parents, but alays hug friends of mine. (which feels weird because they're so muhc taller than me)0

I'm 36 love a cuddle from my dad or mum and although my ds who's 14 hates it i don't think he would want me to stop either. My husband cuddles are the best and make all the 5hitty days seem far better.
Too old i don't think so.

My two boys are 5 and 7 I give them loads of hugs. Every night I tuck them into bed give them a big cuddle kiss them on the head and tell them I love them too.
I give them random hugs throughout the day too. I love them with all my life so why shouldn't I cuddle them, whatever age they are.
Tell these people you were only trying to make her feel secure as she may be feeling put out by the new babies

Cuddles make the world better no matter what your age. I've spent ages retraining DH to be cuddly as his parents are completely undemonstrative.
I cuddle my mum and dad and sometimes acquaintances indiscriminately, it does alarm some of my more repressed friends. I'm 28.

My DD is 13 and has bigger feet than me and is 5 foot 7 and she still love cuddles from mummy and daddy...lol. Wouldnt have it any other way!
I think the British way of thinking has become quite warped to some people over the past 10years or so. If you show any public effection to your children over a certain age or even as babies...you are looked at as if you are commiting child abuse. This is such a shame!
I'm 33 and still love my cuddles...from anyone...lol

OP - if anything the two elder children should be getting lots of EXTRA cuddles.

I wasn't cuddled enough at all.. and I have problems showing my emotions to others now..
(((hugs)))
I have trouble showing my emotions to my parents for that reason
But it's the reason I am so affectionate towards my own kids, so it's natural to them.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. as has been said, let the children decide when they want to stop the cuddles.
my 11 year old still gives me short hugs. at age 6 he was still sitting on my lap but only for reading, and not other times. i think some children are more likely to cuddle up etc at storytime.
roo is almost 3 and he is a bit of a whirlwind. you only get a proper prolonged cuddle from him when he's sleepy, ill or reading a book. i love snuggling up with books
i think perhaps you could explain to the parents that you like snuggling up to read books, and you think it's a natural thing for children to do - so can you please still snuggle while reading with them if you try not to be too affectionate at other times (although i don't understand why, really!). if they agree to that, read books at every opportunity so you can give the little girl as much affection as she wants, bless her. the older girl is still young too, really - if she wants cuddles she should have them, but don't be hurt if she starts to reject your hugs, it will just be part of her growing up and won't mean she doesn't still love you'bad mothers club' member 13
