FYI on insulation. All MQ in Wittering are being upgraded to 270mm in the lofts. For most houses this means a 220mm or 400% increase in insulation.

Really pi*sed me off as I had DE come and inspect it in Oct. They said it was adequate so I paid £200 to get it done properly. No chance of a refund then.

Some bathrooms are on a humidi-stat (which is what I think yours needs to be),rather than on a motion detector. I would complain that it is not working when the shower is on and mention a humidistat when they visit.

I know it is no comfort but you point out that you are putting up with obsolete and poor items (the sink), but you will be moving at the taxpayer's expense.... wouldnt it be more of a waste to fit new items then derelict the house?

Kitchpoo, sorry to saya this as it really annoys me, the men and women in the forces are also TAX PAYERS too this phrase of tax payers money is banded around too often and alot of people think that forces do not pay it. And even if we do get paid to move don't you think that due to the nature of the job and the constant moving around that this would be a reasonable payment. Also these are out homes and so having to constantly live in poor accomodation is very demorolising.
  • Kitchpoo was only quoting the original post #174 who had mentioned the 'tax payers expense' as their move was due to an 'up grade'. :o

However, I wonder if the old house is to become derelict or if another family will be moved in?

;) Sorry Kitchpoo, I should read the blogs properly, it just gets me mad when people quote tax payers money 'cause we all pay tax and belive it or not there are people out there who think that the Armed Forces don't pay tax heard it myself.
  • Our back garden lawn is about 90% moss, 5% other weeds, 5% grass. Is it up to MHS/DE to kill off the moss etc, or as it's the back garden, are we supposed to do it? We mow the moss regularly in the summer!

Don't forget the top quality private health care and dental treatment. Funny though about the dental treatment. All private dental patients have checkups every six months where as we have them every 12. Oh and no hope of hygienist because the MOD can't afford to hire then!

Thanks for the apology, and Moneyhoney stood to my defence, I dont like seeing the term either, as I am also paid by the taxpayer's purse to do my job.

Difficult one, I know some of the sites the soil just wont take to grass, lots of heathland and mossy areas (You are not at Rock Barracks by any chance?). There is no stipulation is JSP as to what he covering of the garden has to be! So it could be sand, gravel, concrete, soil, grass, moss or a total jungle... But it is stipulated that it should be weeded at turnaround ready for your occupation. If you can prove this is the case, then you could get MHS to sort it, good luck with that one!

Thanks, kitchypoo - I guess we'll just carry on keeping it well mowed and tidy!
