what if it is running a resilient or disaster tolerant system? Unfortunately I don't think anyone here knows exactly what the issue is or what the SLA for getting the service back up and running is.
I'm not sure you have an appreciation of how "back-up" systems work, how much they cost, and when they have a business benefit?
You've been inconvenienced by losing a day for delivery, have instigated your own "back-up" process and got your shopping delivered (and saved money I would wager, as asda is almost always cheaper than sainsburys on branded & unbranded items), so everything has worked out ok surely?

plus it's all fixed now by the looks of it.
Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?

And the moral of this story is... make sure you have a bit of grub in the cupboards in case of emergencies. ;)

Maybe that is what Chrysalis meant by she and I having different morals? I always have food in, and she doesn't? Works for me! :p

What moral was she suppose to be on about?

The wanting massive amounts of compensation everytime something doesn't go your way moral.

How would that be a moral?!?!?

    I really couldn't tell.

I think it was the 'having the audacity to disagree with Chrysalis' moral?

Or maybe she just heard about my big old !!!!!! collection? :p  :p

I think it must be the greed moral.

If I ran out of food and was relying on a supermarket to deliver my food and then they had a problem I'd consider it my fault for letting my food stocks run so low. Obviously some people morals are different, their morals state they should blame someone else!

I don't think some people know the meaning of the word moral/morals.

I would agree on all three points, though I could be persuaded on the middle one. After all, who needs food when you've got !!!!!!? :p

Basically had a delivery due today at midday, got a phone call about 11.30am telling me it wont be arriving due to their systems been down. Clearly they had some access to their systems as they knew I had a delivery due and got my contact details, judging by the message on their website my fear is there has been a security breach. But I am very angry they didnt honour booked deliveries and I am left with no food as I cant get out and do my own shopping.

Was offered £10 evoucher as compensation but told them I want a lot more then that mainly due to the very short notice given and the fact all that is lost paying someone to do my shopping for me.

I wonder if anyone else here is affected and if they know anything more about the problem, judging by the way the guy was talking on the phone I am expecting it be offline for days possibly all this week. He told me 48 hours.

They did'nt honour booked deliveries as they could not get the orders through to the stores in order to have someone do the shopping.

We were offered the £10 and I have to say I was very pleased to accept it. It had never occured to me to ask them for compensation - it's just one of those things that happen.

What on earth would you do if your computer crashed and you could not place your online order?

Have you learned nothing from the vent board...

...it would either be the ISPs fault or the manufacturer of the computer and a big claim would be put in for all of the time and stress that arose from an unfortunate error on the system. Then the person add thigns to a list, such as a disability in the surrounding neighbourhoud (50 miles radius) or some other issue and use this as a way of escalating the seriousness of wanting more money. Poor old tiny Tim would be starving and his conjoined twin would be eaten just so he could make it through until a trip to the supermarket was possible.

Of course there are real cases when people with needs are affected, but those that are usually understand just how precious life is and the reason why largely they would stay clear of places such as the vent board.
    Nice to save.

on the delivery contract issue - surely as payment isnt taken until the store has packaged up your goods/food (usually the day of delivery), then no contract exists........
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)
