Oh dear, well just done my reads for the week. Electric exactly the same as last week at 69 units, so I guess that's probably my base level for the winter, although I have been making efforts not to use the dishwasher so much and to wash clothes in cold water where possible.
As for gas (sigh) well it's as bad as expected. 670kwh over the week, 96 per day. And that's with the house cold for most of the day. We could easily double this use. So that's £35.50 for this week. I'm really not sure what we can do to bring this down much.
Anyway in odd news, I got a letter yesterday re my electric DD looking to bring it down to £49 a month. This after my phone call to them last month where the woman told me I should be paying £65 and I talked her down to £55. And I am probably the only person in the whole of the UK whose gas DD has just come down, we were having to overpay on arrears which are now covered so it is down to £119 a month from £129. Some good news I guess.
Oh and for some reason I am now 14/62 on Imeasurealthough I can't enter my reads till tomorrow. Don't worry, I won't get used to it
Good luck with all your reads...0 -
Well another wet and rainy day. Think as well as high gas usage the electricity will be up as well. Going to have to increase the times for the heating as well its not coming on for long enough to take the chill off the house. Plus dogs are fed up because of the rain.0

Well, I've been and read my meters
Gas 50 units (555 Kwh approx)
Elec 93 Kwh, although I must confess to having used one of my gadgets last night, Remoska and forgot to turn it off.....no wonder the kitchen felt warm this morning.
So, I think my place in the relegation zone of the league is safe this week.
I've just logged into E-on to enter my monthly reads, couple of days late I know. When I entered my gas....it asked to check the figure as it was more than they had estimated. No **** Sherlock, it's flipping freezing here :rotfl:
I've seen a post on the utilities board about the ES 8 tarrifs rising, these are not shown on my on-line page, so I've emailed them for some info. I may well be looking to move my supplier. Although at least with measures I've been taking to reduce consumption (last night excluded) I am in credit :T so a move should not be too difficult and may earn me some cashback :jOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
My readings are due tomorrow and I'm predicting closer to 400 kwu for the week as I now have 4 storage heaters and 2 oil-filled radiators on. Room temperature is now at about 15C and hallway is 11C, last night, (first night with all the heaters on) we used almost 60 units just through the night. But, like I said elsewhere, I would rather pay £5 per day through winter for electricity knowing I can work from home and please myself, than pay £5 per day travelling to work and buying coffee/lunch elsewhere.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Just noticed on imeasure that someone has asked the question about inputting the costs information (perhaps one of us with a different screen name?) Anyway you can just tick a box to ask this question too, they say if more people click this then it gets the question noticed. Here's the link:

I've finally ordered a new freezer to replace my very inefficient chest one......
Have been dithering over which to get for a good couple of weeks (choice of a larger chest or one of two large uprights), and decided tonight it was time to take the plunge. As I've had good reports from friends on one of the uprights (which was my preference -- and the cheaper -- of the two) I went for that one in the end.
Can't get it delivered until 13th though
They could have delivered- this Thursday (but I'm out most of the day), or
- this coming Saturday (with an extra £9.99 delivery charge!), or
- the following Tuesday (out to pick up grand-children between 7:15 and 7:45, drop off at school at 9am, and pick up younger one at 2pm -- and don't get the 3 hour delivery window until the night before it's coming)
If I manage to get it running on the quoted annual kWh it should save me about 15kWh a week from the 80kWh/week I've averaged over the last 4 weeks !!! Personally I'd be very happy with saving 10, and absolutely ecstatic at anything more than that -- especially as it has double the capacity of the one it's replacing so I should finally be able to get some batch cooking done tooCheryl0 -
Just entered this week's readings on imeasure, we are 36/60 at the moment and dropped down to a D rating
and we've only heated the living room for 3 hours each evening, no morning heat on yet.
Last week you spent:- £12.08 on gas  (average for previous 13 weeks was £1.09)
- £8.88 on electricity ( av. was £6.24)
- £36.21 on gas
- £103.56 on electricity

I have put meter readings in and I'm down to a C rating gas was 48KWH per day for very little heating I'm very worried as the highest we used last year was 38KWH using more heating. Our boiler was fixed in June this year and I'm sure that we have been using more gas ever since then, any idea's what the problem could be? Also electric up to 8KWH per day this week really need to do something about it.0

We used 100kwh a day for a lot of heating last week - half term. Your 48kwh a day for not much makes me feel a bit better, suidreams, even if it's not good for you! We were using 56kwh a day for not much heating. We do cook by gas too, though. Our lowest daily average this year has been 16 for cooking and hot water only.0
