    Hi wilf

Looks like you're already taking some positive action to cut down on your energy usage. We may be able to help with this.

Have a chat with our Energy Efficiency team. They specialise in helping people reduce their usage and will be happy to talk to you.

Ask for a copy of a booklet called '100 ways to save money by saving energy.' It's free and contains lots of energy saving advice.

Check out our website too; particularly the Interactive House and Energy Fit page. Lots more tips here.

Hope this is useful wilf. Give me a shout if you need any more details as will be happy to help. :)

Managed to fall back to a 'C' rating for last week but am also managing to keep the costs of electricity at around the £15. I don't even mind if this creeps up to £20 during winter, as it beats £50 by far. Storage heatres have been turned up a tiny bit as they were barely kicking in, so fairly chilly in the mornings when temperatures outside are below zero and/or we have gale force winds. Trouble from now on will be trying to keep the logs dry, as the winter gales have already started and we have flooding all around us. Never rains but it pours, as they say.

Wilf, what sort of heating do you have in your house? You need to remember that the imeasure site doesn't make allowances for some forms, like oil, so you could be comparing with similar households who aren't using electricity or mains gas for cooking, hot water or heating.

I've just signed up at imeasure to see how our house and occupants compare to others. Unfortunately, I'm something of a domestic energy hog because I really like the central heating, which is not a great thing as we live in a four bedroom house with huge windows from the 70s and a similar age back boiler. The gas meter spins alarmingly fast when this thing is turned on. This house could do with an extensive energy efficiency overhaul as we have to put in heat constantly to maintain the temperature in here, but it's a rental and the landlord doesn't seem to see the value in energy efficiency upgrades like insulating the walls, despite my suggestions. On the up side he keeps everything in very good condition, the rent is good and I like the house/area a lot, so although it's not very eco friendly it's still a great deal for us to live here despite the high gas bills. Frustrating though as we burn our way though a lot of gas in the winter and it makes up the greater portion of our carbon dioxide emissions now.

hello all (waving shyly from the corner)
Haven't been around for months due to odd shifts at work, but been dutyful in keeping my i-measure up to date and other then it seemed as if i was lighting the whole street over the summer holiday with the kids off we have stayed pretty consistant with A/B readings
i have just worked my numbers for the year ( as we had a new meter fitted november 09)
and my leccy bill came in at £629.53p for the year :j
add in the oil bill ( tho we have enough to last till easter easy) our power bill comes to £1095.64p way under what i expected and accounted for :D

...hold on the best is to come as a family of 5 our energy co footprint came in at 8.8kg a day almost we almost halved it from the previous year reckoning that im most chuffed about...but reckon we can do better.
well im off to work some figure's out so i can join frugaldom and CW18 frugal challenge in jan ( need to save to go solar )

Have a great day everyone, smile and the world smiles with ya :D

Ben check out the old style board there is a wealth of information on little things to help keep the warmth in like lining curtains with cheap fleeses you may not be able to do the big changes but you can be surprised how many little changes can add up, best of luck

Still on a 'C' rating but only got through £17 of electricity over past week, as opposed to almost twice that same time last year. -5C this morning again and we've had our first taste of snow, so winter is here. Someone please call a halt to any further price increases.

I'm coming in at a 'nice steady' E rating these days

Against all users it's always on the 'F' side, but against my comparison group it varies between a 'D' side and an 'F' side.
Can't see anywhere else I can make savings (other than not running my heating at all!), so I think I'm just going to have to accept it as a penalty for being single occupancy in a large house :o

    BUT....

Just read my meters and phoned my supplier. Explained briefly to the chap I expected these readings to force a review, as I'd sweet-talked one of his colleagues into not increasing my payment with the annual review in July - but only on the basis another review would be done in 'about 3 months' but didn't seem to have been done yet. Also mentioned I was actually hoping it would drop my payment due to dropping one person from the head-count, and that being heavy computer used ;)

He put my readings into the system, and informed me it was dropping the payment from £47 to £46 -- all of £1 :o

So I quoted him some figures from my s/sheet (actual cost of bills over last 12 months which include 9.5 months with the computer user here, credit balance, total that would mean I'd have to pay over next 12 months if useage and price stay the the same and I use all my credit against it, and what that calculates at a month - which was £41.54).

He then re-ran something through the system and said the lowest the computer would approve was £41.50 - at which point I stunned him by asking to have it set to £43. But when I explained I don't want to be in debt (or see a major increase) at this point next year he could see where I was coming from ;)

So that's another £4/month I can allocate to something else for 2011 :T

And the reduced payment starts on 1st Dec, so I'll be £4 under on my 2010 fuel budget too :D
