HelloThis winter I have, at long last, got my logburner! :j But I had to laugh at your temperatures, as we've had the past two mornings of heavy white frost and temperatures below zero! I haven't put any of the storage heaters on but have had the stove lit. Saves on two counts, as it's got the hot plate for cooking. So far, I've made soup, assorted veg, spaghetti bolognese and I've even cooked a large chicken.
I've now brought my imeasure account up to date after planning on forgetting about it.I still keep all the figures of how much I feed the pre-payment meter but at the moment, the balance is increasing, so I have quite a bit in credit compared to any other time pre-'George' the pot belly stove - he's named after Peppa Pig's brother, George, and I refer to him as my pot belly pig because he eats so much. :rotfl:

:rotfl:And if you live in places like we do, you celebrate ever reaching those heady temperatures. Our ambient temp is around 15 or 16 but it drops to 14C during winter with the storage heaters on. Anything more than that and it means lighting the fire. I do need to keep the dehumidifier running 24/7 though.
Also meant to say, my dehumidifier has been clicking off now and again on it's current setting, so the air in the house must be less humid now we have the stove. Time will tell, when I'm stoking his little pot belly all day every day.I reserve the right not to spend.

SMF, guess what? My imeasure results have dropped to C RATING! :j:beer::T Who would ever have believed that possible? Since starting to use the woodburner for heat & cooking, my average electricity units used per day has dropped to around 10... a far cry from 80+ OK, so the temperature has only dropped below zero twice this week and the hosepipe only frozen once, but it's still utterly AMAZING for me, don't you think?
Better still, I'm using as much free wood as I can find to burn on the stove plus all the old pallets that we're now able to recycle. This has to be the coolest Frugaldom news ever! I will no longer be bumping up the national average! :rotfl:

:j Thank you! Getting now that I can't wait to update imeasure. I have NEVER been able to get autumn weather power useage this low ever before - just need to practice my slow burning for winter so I can get up early, blast the place with heat and then keep the stove going as it munches through everything it can consume in flames.
Still using the cooker occasionally but microwave and slow cooker being given preference if whatever's cooking can't go on the stove.I reserve the right not to spend.

OMG!!!!
I finally got round to keying a meter reading! Bill arrived a few days later, so I was able to work out an average between two readings. As I did one way back at the start of May and the other one at the end of Sept, you'll see that I've not taken an active interest in this before now, other than swearing quite loudly every time they take a payment, as it seems ridiculously high
Anyhoo, I worked out that I'm averaging about 22kw/hr a day, which seems a lot compared to many of you on here (although I only have electricity, no gas).
So, I thought I'd sign up for the i-measure that you've all been talking about and try and get it downI remembered to take a reading today, a week since my last reading and keyed this all in. And then I thought I'd work out a daily average for comparison. But by my calcs, I used 31kw/hrs a day last week!!!!!:eek::eek::eek: How is that possible?!?!?!

Things are going well with the gas as it's quite warm here in London, so CH still off. I had been line drying up until Friday but am having to use my drier yesterday and today as it hasn't stopped raining . So mixed results for me.
Keep up the good work everyone!
