Just been to check the badges I 'earned' last week.

On a 'C' for both - and both are pretty mid-C, though against all users I'm slightly towards a 'D' and against 'detached g&e' I'm slightly towards a 'B'

Given the large jump I had in useage to last weeks readings I'm really happy with those :)

I'm on 2 C's for the week before last, we seem to have used less gas last week so that is good.

Dan - how did you get on? Did it turn out to be the immersion heater causing problems in the end? Have you sorted it out?

Hi guys, meter reading and figure feeding time again!

Last week's huge jump for me resulted in the badges showing as 'E' and 'F' so no surprises there. Since last week, I have turned the heaters down another notch as the weather, although stormy, has been fairly mild temperature wise, so I managed to save £1 per day on electricity but could easily spend that on coal & logs when it gets cold enough that the fire needs lighting every day. So, here goes...

Your household's total energy spend over the last 50 weeks is £875.24.
For week ending 22nd November, 2009 your household spent £21.71 in total (plus the standing charge).

    Electricity A Rate: £13.27
    Electricity B Rate: £2.69
    Electricity C Rate: £5.75
    Standing charge: £1.61

    Total spent - £23.32

My weekly average over the full year to date is now £19.11

For next year, I am going to try dropping my annual electricity budget to £1050 and hope to maintain an average of £20/week. With another 5 weeks to go of this year, I'll try my best to stay below £20/week average and, with any luck, utility price increases in 2010 won't wreck my plan! :D

DanJackson999 how are you doing with the immersion heater scenario? Is your gas boiler heating your water?
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

  • I've dropped from to 23rd on the list for last week. I've used 45 kWh of gas and 18 kWh of electricity this week so badges should be slightly higher next week. Double 'C' on badges.
  • Have had to put the heating on just to dry out the house, it's been feeling really damp and lots of condensation so, despite the mild weather, it's on.....but only at 17c.....and only to dry out the house. :(

    Guys,

I've noticed several references on this forum, to the MSE Carbon Club at imeasure. I've been on imeasure for over a year but can see no reference to this club. Does it operate under another name? Any pointers would be appreciated.

LM we keep our house at 18 minimum. I know Stuart found he had to keep his house at 18 as well to prevent condensation. I don't think it's good to let your house get damp. It will cost you more money in the long run in re decorating etc. Hope that helps.

    Hello and welcome!

If you look on i-measure on the right hand side, under the Oxford Uni logo, there's a 'carbon clubs' link. Click on this then click on 'join a carbon club' and type in 'MoneySaving Carbon Club' then click 'join'.
  • Thanks Sweetie!

I'm there now. 32nd out of 45 is a good start. Competing with Rose Woods' figure of 2kg CO2 per person is a bit beyond me though. Is she huddled round a single CFL bulb at night for warmth?

I've not seen her in the top 5 before...maybe she's new and has given figures for a short week, or was perhaps away for most of it  certainly would take some beating!

My i-measure results for this week...We're down this week to double A, and 8th..gggrrrrr......I do so love being in the top 5...:A

Your household's total energy spend over the last 57 weeks is £373.08.
For week ending 22nd November, 2009 your household spent £5.40 in total.
Gas meter (cubic metres): £0.00 - Main electricity meter: £5.40
