  • The badges are on an A and B for last weeks readings. Electricity for this week is 16 kWh. The weather is overcast but temperature is fine so no heating today anyway.

As Nyk says, energy use in some households (esp detached) must be on the increase....... two x 'C' badges for me based on last weeks readings :T

Don't read my meters until tomorrow, but will probably see a small increase in gas (I sneaked the heating on a touch last night as my ankles, knees and nose were feeling more than a little chilly - and even DS complained it was cold for the first time this year  )

    Hi Everyone:j

Just thought I'd introduce myself, as I'm regularly in the top 5 on imeasure:A. We are a family of 1 adult (me!) DS aged 8 & DD aged 12. I've been a lurker on here for years but you all seem such a friendly and helpful bunch I thought it was about time to say Hi.

So far we've managed to avoid having the heating on...we usually make it to the end Oct/ start of Nov and then its only an hour in the mornings (or less if I can switch it off earlier!) and an hour at teatime - although if the oven's on I can often get away without heating. We have a gas combi boiler that only heats the water we use and a gas hob, and electric oven and electric shower.

Today the washing is on the line - we dont have a tumble drier. I input my meter readings once a week on a Monday and today it said.....

Your household's total energy spend over the last 52 weeks is £347.64.
For week ending 18th October, 2009 your household spent £3.60 in total.
Gas meter (cubic metres): £0.00 - Main electricity meter: £3.60

.....so really pleased as we were A and A :T Hoorah!!
  • Not been on here for a while, hello again everyone!:hello:

According to Eon's energy tracker we're down 21.6% on last year and the wrote to us dropping our DDM to £35pm! (for a 4 bed detached) I said, "thanks but no thanks" and asked them to keep it as is, seeing as we've the winter months to contend with.

The clothes are currently drying in the conservatory, drizzly rain here and I think they'd have come back in just as wet if I'd line dried. Am going to get rid of whilygig as I'm sure stuff will dry better on a normal 'straight' line.

No heating here yet, not even the log fire.......it is chilly, I've got a fleece & cardi on as I write but as it's just me in at the mo it's ok. Everyone in the house seems fine, no-one feeling cold so we may make it to November........and beyond if poss.

Keep up the good work everyone.

    Best wishes
    LM :)

Just found this thread and with it imeasure and wanted to say hello!

We moved house this year and I think it's going to be interesting to see how much energy we use in this house. It's bigger than our old house but better insulated and has a log burning stove so we are hoping to use that a fair bit. I am a SAHM so at home a lot during the day with my toddler.

We've just changed supplier from eon because we were having the opposite problem to you, every month they were wanting to up our direct debit, we were in credit with them but they were estimating our winter usage on what the previous occupants of the house were using last winter. Thing is their online tracker showed that we have been using 60% and 40% of the previous occupants usage. I wouldn't think the differences would be so great in the winter but I still think (hope) that we would use less than they did. We just can't afford to get to the end of the winter hundreds of pounds in credit with eon which is what I think would have happened if we had stayed with them. When we rang them they would agree and cut the direct debit but DH got fed up of having the same conversation with them every month.

I got my badge rating for the week ending Oct 11th. E against all users and D compared with same number of people in the household (1 in my case). That sounds pretty poor - I don't even have the heating on yet! Ah well, will just keep trying,

I've emitted less CO2 this week (should say my house - it's not like how cattle emit it :D) despite using the washing machine and dishwasher a few times, Reduced my gas by from 24 to 22 kWh and leccy from 72 to 65 kWh.
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!
