If you have a LETS group near you then there's sure to be someone offering ironing services. :D Also saves on your electricity :D (I don't use the ironing service, but know people who do.)

Still managing here without switching on the other 2 storage heaters but I'll need another load of logs by next month. I definitely need to get me a woodland so I have a ready supply of my own. But then again, at £40 per load from log man and £40,000 for a decent woodland plus insurance, maintenance and transport - how many logs will I need in my lifetime? :rotfl: Maybe electricity is cheaper after all.

Thank you for your table. I have done something similar (for a four bed, four people, working from home).

    Electricity Feb-Jul 2009
    Consumption in 149 days: 2,090.10
    average kwh /day/pers 3.51
    average mwh p/a household 5.12

    Gas April - July 2009
consump in 94 days 84.80 cubic feet
average cubic feet per day 0.90
    cubic feet
    moving average (since Apr08) 1.25
    cubic feet
    consumption m3 /day 2.55
    per/day / person 6.98 kwh
    per/day / person (since Apr08)
    9.71 kwh
    p/a household 14.17 mwh

Though my goal is to reduc the kwh / per person. any input?

Well it was all thanks to the inspiration on this board and your challenge in the first place, so "Thank You". :D

The first year was 'easy', we were being wasteful.....to the tune of over 20%.....the challenge will be this coming year to see if we are running at the minimum we can. Half term coming up so that'll make the house look like a branch of Curry's with TVs, DVDs, DSlites, Playstations and Wiis on :o Think I may declare a 'Lego Day', in attempt to cut energy usage! ;)

My energy use is up a shade this week :(

    Electricity by 4kWh to 66kWh
Gas by 11kWh to 57kWh (almost a 25% increase, so looks like my heating has kicked in a touch)

It's time to add reading to energy provider (something I do every 4 weeks)

Compared to my last time of doing this the electricity is down by 5kWh, and gas is exactly the same

Compared to the 4-weekly bill from this time last year electricity is down by 57kWh and gas is down by 22kWh

Just good_luck.gif In the end every house is different. We have the world's worst front door for instance - it has orginal 100 year old leaded glass in it. Every winter we say we will get it sorted maybe next spring:D

I'm becoming a little obsessed with our energy use, does this happen to everyone when they first start paying attention to it?
It seems to be getting cold in our house now. We put our central heating timer on last night so that it comes on first thing so our gas use is only going to get worse from now on! It is shocking to see how much is used in so little time.

SMF2 - do you have a curtain over the door? Is it practical to put one up?

I woke up this morning in a sweat...... took me a couple of mins to twig the heating had kicked in BIG TIME

So I fell out of bed, and first port of call (before visiting the little room or turning on the kettle) was to turn the thermostat down ;) An hour and a half later the thermometer I have above it was still registering over 18 degrees, so I suspect DS had turned it up a touch :rolleyes2 Must remember to keep an eye on it in case he tries it again :p
