I was paying £168 dual fuel with NPower when i started my mission (about 18 months ago)
This has had several drop in the 6 monthly reviews with them however this week got my new bill............
£57 for both!!! This is for 4 people in a 4 bed house - im even happier considering what gas and electricity hs risen in real terms in these times. Reckon i can nudge this down a tad more as was running a dehumidifier for a good few months.
Im so happy and delighted at having an extra £1300 ish pounds per year to spend on good things (as opposed to these robbing so and so's!!!!)
Been hard graft with battles along the way but fingers crossed i can keep it like this.

Well temperature was 20 degrees when I got up this morning. Forcast not looking good however as weather man says it's going to get colder towards the end of the week....must dig out my jumpers:D

Decided to wash all my sofa covers today as might be the last chance I get to line dry them before next spring. Still line drying.

I just wish other people would start running their heating systems, as I'm sure that's the only way my badges are going to improve  (But mine will then nose-dive again when my heating comes on  )

My heating is at least 6 weeks aways from lighting the piltot! NUMPTIE

Good morning SMF and meter watching crew :)

I'm reading as 'D' and 'E' again on the imeasure chart and I was expecting a slight increase as the breadmaker has been going on almost every day, I've needed extra hot water and the bathroom fan heater has been switched on a couple of times for 5 minutes at a time just to take the chill off the place. Dehumidifier runs 24/7 in this household. I've also had to light the fire a couple of times as we need some dry heat about the place to try to get washing dried. So, the past week's results look like this:

Your household's total energy spend over the last 43 weeks is £752.14.

For week ending 4th October, 2009 your household spent £12.34 in total.
    Electricity A Rate: £10.18
    Electricity B Rate: £2.16
    Electricity C Rate: £0.00
    Plus standing charge of £1.61

All of this means that since starting at this address on imeasure, my weekly average is now £19.10 so I am still ahead of my own forecast of £100 per month :) Not sure how much longer we'll leave the heaters off tho, as DS is in a north facing room and is beginning to grumble. It's about the best I can do but I'm sure our friends in the much warmer south will help reduce our overall national average :D
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

  • Sitting on two B's this week. I suspect I will be turning the heating on this week. It's certainly getting chillier in the mornings.

Our CH was set for 19 degs - so it would have come on if the temp dipped below 19. When I got up this morning for the first time it was 19 degs. So I've reset it to 18 degs to stop it coming on.....it's definitely becoming colder in the mornings in SE...

Yes it's certainly getting chillier here. I'm wondering if we're getting a bit fitter and healthier after a year of reducing the temperature it certainly encourages you to be more active. I've lost around three stone compared with last year so perhaps that improves circulation too.

Badges this week are an 'E' against all users, and a 'D' against all g&e detached (actually bang on the average for the latter)

Have a feeling the heating may have just kicked in this morning. The thermostat is set to 16 degrees and the thermometer I have above it said 17 degrees - but the radiators didn't feel icy cold when I fell out of bed (though they weren't really what I'd call tepid either), and I have had problems in the past where the thermostat seems to have registered slightly lower than my own thermometer... so 17 on the latter would probably only be 16 on the former.

I did debate turning my thermostat down lower - for all of about 15 seconds ;) It's not going to happen, so it looks like I need to resign myself to the fact the heating is going to be starting to kick in now :(
