Have to admit I have stopped using the halogen to cook sunday lunch and gone back to my oven and roasting tin. I just cant get my roasts to taste the same and the kids weren't keen.
Still use it for everything else, but the old faithful roasting tin will remain on a sunday.0 -
Roasties aren't really a big priority for me, as I only have them very rarely - and have to confess to buying Aunt Bessies (when they're on offer of course)!
The chicken is doing really nicely, I cooked it upside down on 200 for half an hour, then turned it over for the rest of the 60 mins on the timer. I then lowered the temp to 150, and cooking for another 40 mins to an hour now.
Edit: cooked for 2 hours 20 mins in the end, just doing the last 20 mins back on 200 to crisp up the skin. It smells divine. I'm having it with some tinned new potatoes (cheap ones from Aldi) and runner beans my mum has grown and brought over for me!
another Edit: Chicken absolutely succulent - best meal in a long time! There was still some resistance in the shoulder joint, so I'm recooking for a bit, although I think it is fine as there's no actual pink colour anywhere. It is a really large bird but I probably should have cooked on higher than 150, or for a good while longer as in slow cooking.
So in love with this cooker!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

I overcooked it (im to cautious sometimes when it comes to chicken!) and it was still fairly succulent so definate thumbs up!!
i also did some frozen shop-bought roast spuds, and altho it made them very crispy, they were pretty much ok!
as my oven is broke, im more than happy with it and will continue to use it ... especially jacket spuds as its been months since we've had them!!!!wading through the treacle of life!

I found one saturday in Cash Convertors for £20! I was ecstatic, as I've been after one for ages. However when I got it home found there was no power cable, and with the Bank Hols can't take it back until Tuesday......
Was looking forward to doing the sunday roast in it!This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!
