My home Insurance renewal from Admiral was £130 and all the comparison quotes were higher than this (£140+).
Saw the offer from the Post Office where they beat your renewal by £50, so I completed a quote and it came to £270. I contacted the Post Office insurance team and had it confirmed my renewal and new PO quote were identical (they have to be like-for-like) before I committed to purchasing.
It's been a few days, and today I had a letter confirming the policies match and I would get a payment for the difference +£50.
My home insurance cover for the year will be £80!0 -
Hope you don't need to claim!
Post Office insurance isn't from the Post Office!
Its a trading name for BISL.
See their reviews across the net

Although, to be fair to POFS, they are quite protective of their brand, and are quite involved with both BISL and the Underwriter where the customer complains. I know a customer shouldn't need to complain to get a good service, but at least they remedy the issue more often than not where a complaint is made (from professional experience dealing with them).0 -
Offer from MSE for Together mutual £130 with 80 pounds of M&S vouchers taking it to £30, Lowest I have ever had. Certainly beats the £360 I got quoted from Hiscox, albeit a premium insurer."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Hi all,
Bit of advice needed please.
Home Insurance is due for renewal on Sunday. Had a call from my current insurers (Policy Expert) yesterday evening and they have quoted £104 (including Legal Expenses) which is around the same price I paid last year (£99). This includes the Legal Expenses and Home Emergency cover that I had last year.
I am always hesitate to renew with the same providers but the cheapest on comparison sites is British Gas at £77, excluding Legal Expenses or Home Emergency.
Can anyone recommend an insurer I can go to directly (through cashback site of course) that could offer a cheaper deal (once cashback taken into account).
Regards,

As legal cover isn't included, the £77 from British Gas isn't a fair comparison to the renewal.
Have you had any quotes on the comparison site that are lower than £104 that include legal expenses and home emergency cover?
Insurance quotes have a number of variables, therefore isn't possible to say any particular insurer may be cheaper than already quotes.0 -

Thanks, you're right it wasn't a fair comparison.
I ran some more quotes over the weekend and Policy Expert still came out on top even when I took into account cashback from other providers.
In the end I went for Policy Expert - I also managed to get it down to £94 after a bit of polite asking on the phone. :T

An excellent result, good job!
Mines is due at the end of February so I'm hoping to get mines down a fair bit from £150.0 -
Okay so it was my turn to renew my home insurance! Here is how it went;
Last year after shopping around I paid £147.07 with Admiral for B&C.
My renewal from Admiral was £162.27, an increase of £15.20 or 9.4%.
I ran quotes through the usual comparison sites and immediately got 5 quotes less than my renewal, I was able to get a price from Admiral of £137.56 meaning if I wanted to stay with them for ease I'd save £9.51 over last year... but I don't mind switching for a saving.
Following some advice here I got separate quotes for B&C but this didn't work out well in my favour, the best quote for buildings was £96.91 with LV and £49.25 with Tesco bank - a combined total of £146.16.
I then looked at other quotes and have settled on one by Policy Expert at £121.98 for the year B&C with the same level coverage from the previous year. All in all, a saving of £25.09 from my premium last year and a saving of £40.29 if I took no action and auto-renewed with Admiral.0 -
So my contents insurance is the best deal I have ever managed to secure! (I'm still a bit of a newbie at all this).
I live in a 2 bed rented semi so only require contents cover, and I don't really have anything worth a lot of money.
I did a few comparisons one through confused on TCB earning £2.64.
Endsleigh was the second cheapest at £48.88 (only about £2 more than whoever was cheapest with the same level of cover) and TCB had cashback of £34.50 available with them direct.
In the end, I only paid £11.74 for my contents insurance a saving of £37.14 (this is also the first contents insurance I've ever held so it was doubly exciting!)LBM: October 2016: £20,130 / Current: May 2019: £12,576 37.53%DFD: [STRIKE]February 2024[/STRIKE] April 2022?0
