Ugh, just tried to go through PayPlan for a DMP after my CCCS one lapsed, and they've just called to tell me that they're not willing to take me on, as in my current circumstances it would take me 11 years to pay off what I owe and apparently the creditors won't go for it. The girl on the phone suggested bankruptcy, but I would lose my job and rented home immediately if I went bankrupt. Was feeling so optimistic at the start of today too, sigh.... Just about to approach CCCS and see if there's any chance of getting back on my plan with them, but from what I hear it seems unlikely. Keep your fingers crossed all!

Hi. I'm just starting a DMP with PayPlan and they phoned me today to go through the assessment. After going through the figures I was told it will take approx 22 years to pay everything off (me & OH have about £60k owed between us). Explained that I was worried about bankruptcy and was told that the chances of that happening were very unlikely. The worse things that could happen to us are CCJ's and Charging Orders. Perhaps you could call them back and try again. Will keep my fingers crossed for you.

    Hi Wen,

I've been on a DMP with the CCCS for almost 2 years now.

I have 3 accounts with HSBC, all offers have been rejected and they continue to charge interest too!

On the two smaller accounts they have cancelled my OD facility but have continued it on biggest OD - HSBC are a law unto themselves I think.

    MDW

Thanks MDW we will have to wait and see what happens:) On a positive note we have just switched gas and electric suppliers and did it via quidco so should get a little extra back.

We have just started our DMP with CCCs so wondered if we could join in.

We have £114,000 included in our DMP, alot of credit cards and storecards but a massive debt of £70k to one of my hubbies old business debts. The reason we are in so much trouble now is we have paid them over £50k in 12 mths before we have finally had to seek advise.

They have issued a statutory demand and even after we have offered them everything we have they are still insisting they will be petitioning for bankcruptcy. If that happens it will wipe of my hubbies debts and depending on if we can even keep the house I will have roughly £23K in my name which I would carry on through a dmp.

We should know by next week whats going to happen and we have had such a crap time for the past year it might be in our best interests.

    Anyway back to the DMP
Next have accepted straight away and stopped interest and so has Capital One. Natwest have issued a notice of default straight away with 17 days to pay in full or default goes ahead. Other than that we haven't heard fron the other 11 yet. Lloyds are our next biggest creditors with a credit card each and 2 overdrafts and I believe they are awful so I will let you know how we get on.

I have found the phone calls ok and have told them all about cccs and given them an acc mnum and they seem to have stopped.

  • A big 'hi' to all the new members :j well done for taking the first steps, stick around on here the site is amazing I never knew about PPI, claiming charges back, CCJ's until looking at this site. Amazing information that no doubt will help someone somewhere including me!

Paid my £169 DMP payment slip at the Post Office yesterday, robbing doo dahs charged me an extra £2.35 aswell as a fee!! A fee for what? stamping the slip, what a cheek! :D

I sent my direct debit mandate form off to CCCS today, recorded delivery, can't trust the post these days and you could guarantee THAT letter would go missing.

With reference to the question about what to put in reasons for change on the template letter, I just put that I was finding it increasingly difficult to meet monthly payments to all my creditors. I was living off my overdraft every month, money went in to cancel it and bills came out and I'd be back to minus again waiting for the next credit to my account. I can't believe I lived the way I did for so long, it was so depressing.

So now I just sit and wait and hope all my creditors will think I am special and say yes to my plan. So far so good; no phone calls (changed my number free with Post Office home phone) and only 2 letters from my 5 creditors.

Good luck to everyone and I think its time I asked Rayday for a number (please), I'll be around for at least 5 years, don't want to feel odd one out :D

I must admit that before finding this site and then using CCCS I didn't sleep for months, cried most of the time and struggled to find enough money for food whilst paying as many people as possible. Now its as if a weight is lifted. Knowing that we haven't committed a crime and thousands of people are just like us has brought it home. We have our health and our family and yes its going to be a long hard road but we have support now.

Sorry to gush but my marrage nearly broke up because DH kept it all from me and I blamed him for a while. I think we are stronger now though and it had given us a different outlook on our lives and whats important.

Hiya, we already have a yellow monkey so come and join in ;)

Don't panic. When you get your pack through, just ring them, ask them to go through the figures again. Explain you don't get paid till 11th and ask to start 1st August (after your 11 July payday) ;)

They are there to HELP - and are so very nice. After you have been on a DMP for a few months (might be 6 but I can't remember now) they do a review with you so if you find you miscalculated, you can always amend it later on :D
