I have now had the letter from CCCS and things are not as I thought they would be.

I was led to believe that my available money would be split between my creditors as a proportion off the outstanding balance on the account. Now it seems that they do the split in relation to the contractual payment.

So, until now, I thought that NR were going to be getting more than their contractual amount but it turns out not to be the case. I am really not happy at this idea as I don't want NR upset.

I want to talk to other organisations to see if they do the apportionment differently.

What's payplans web address please? I did a search and got lots of addresses for various fee charging companies. I don't want to get suckered!

I may have to manage the DMP myself.

    Thanks for that.
One more question, any suggestions of the best pre-paid credit card?
    thnaks

I use a Cashplus Mastercard and have never had any issues with it. It has always worked in the UK and abroad. Top ups are added within 20 minutes if you you do it at a branch and you can also top up at post offices.

The card costs £9.95 and is valid for a year (I think that if you use it a certain amount they'll renew for free, but I might be imagining that)

They have 2 charging structures either

    1) You pay a flat rate of £4.99 a month for unlimited transactions (I tend to use mine quite a lot so I do this) or

    2) You pay £1 per transaction.

Using it at a cashpoint is expensive, so I never do that.

Generally I find it very good and it'll do until I can get a debit card again.

The other card people seem to recommend is from Virgin. But I don't have any experience of that. It might be worth looking that one up.

Basically work out how many transactions you'll use it for and go for the one that works out cheapest!

Other thing to make sure is that A&L is not related to any of your creditors. I opened mine through Quidco it is my shopping account, I have a complex set up of bank accounts!

which type of account do i go for

    Hi Numpty Monkey.

    Welcome to the thread !

We opened an A & L Premier account through quidco which gave us £50 cashback :j . Make sure you clear your cookies first.

They have been really good switching all our DD and SO from TSB. They also opened a saver account too which we try and save in and put our DMP money in until the DD comes out ( so we can't touch it).

Sure it was that one I remember it had to have an overdraft and I applied anyway, but they said they would give me the account but without the overdraft facility which was just how I wanted it!

This was over a year into my DMP too so don't think they are too concerened about credit reports.
  • I am about to request my pack from CCCS but I have a silly question, does the front or back of the envelope give any indication that this is from a Debt Charity. The reason I ask we are off on our hols next week and a friend will be popping in to check our house and I would be mortified if the envelope gave any indication that we were in Debt. I know I should not be but this friend in particular loves to tell folk how well off she is and how they have no debt at all. Today I have sent of some letters to creditors advising I am contact CCCS to discuss my financial difficulties.

I just put £0 for the overdraft limit request and that worked ;)

No-one would give me any extra credit anyway - that's when I ended up on the DMP - they still gave me the account though, think it was because of having my wages paid straight in each month.

Know of someone who was refused an account with them though, but don't like to ask why :o

We didn't have wages paid in but agreed to pay in £500 a month which was a standing order from our main account to live off. I don't remember seeing the bit where you asked about the overdraft then again initially I just wanted the £50, after I thought hmmm we could use that as the spending account!
