If your DMP is not showing any signs of being ready by 19 July (pants thats my daughters birthday and my other daughter the day after :o) then I would send token payments then. So wait and see really if that helps.

This is a letter you could use:

    Dear Sir/Madam

    Re:- Account/Reference Number 4563210025897412

We are writing to inform you that we are seeking advice and assistance from the Consumer Credit Counselling Service regarding our current financial difficulties.

We are finding it increasingly difficult to meet your monthly payment request so please accept the enclosed postal order for £?? as a token gesture of goodwill.

We would appreciate if you could hold any action on the above account for a period of at least 28 days.

Also, during this period, could you please freeze interest and/or any other charges accruing on the above account.

We look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.

    Yours faithfully
    Mr A N Other

Ugh, just tried to go through PayPlan for a DMP after my CCCS one lapsed, and they've just called to tell me that they're not willing to take me on, as in my current circumstances it would take me 11 years to pay off what I owe and apparently the creditors won't go for it. The girl on the phone suggested bankruptcy, but I would lose my job and rented home immediately if I went bankrupt. Was feeling so optimistic at the start of today too, sigh.... Just about to approach CCCS and see if there's any chance of getting back on my plan with them, but from what I hear it seems unlikely. Keep your fingers crossed all!

Fingers crossed for you, tell them that your home etc is in danger the more you tell them the more likely they will be to help you. Don't forget even if they say no you can do it yourself - I do! Yes its not as simple as having a company do it for you but its not rocket science either and we are all here for you!

    This is confusing...!!!

Send your payment now 19 June

Then if DMP is not in place or close to starting then send some more 19 July

Cheers Rayday2, it's nice to be able to talk to others in the same boat. I can't tell my family and I get the feeling a lot of my friends are thinking "well, you brought it all on yourself", even if they aren't saying that. I know it's a self inflicted problem, but that doesn't make it any easier to deal with now.

Not a problem I would not worry about what date payments were due as you are basically throwing agreements out the window. So today is the day you start a new agreement on your terms - so if you send a payment now and a payment to reach them in a calendar month that would be fine.

The fact you are late paying or missed a payment just proves you are struggling.

There are over 200 people in this thread or the ones that run previous to it so you are in good company.

Try not to worry what others think, people in glass houses should never throw stones. No one knows what the future lies in store especially with the state of the countrys finances. None of us can say hand on heart we will not loose our jobs, relationships will not break up, or there credit card company will not double the interest over night etc etc

Everyone in here are such a support I don't know what I would do sometimes!
