Ossireo and angel cake if the calls get you down, really seriously consider getting your numbers changed you don't need to take rubbish like that, life is to short.
Either that or we have to stop you from answering the calls, or you could contact BT and tell them you are getting telephone harrassment.
Good news on the baby front we have a DMP baby! wow!0 -

Thanks Rayday, the calls do not worry me much now, I am more worried about the threat of mercers sending a collector to my house. I told them If they did, I know the collector has no power at all and I will not give them anything as the offer has been made via PP (this made the women at Mercers REALLY Angry) I also said I had a 70 year old Mother in law living with me and I did not want her upset - they more or less said tough! Do you think they will carry out the threat and send somebody round? Angel CakeDMP Mutal Support thread No 193

I think to be honest taking the common sense approach here why would they bother? You are offering money so they will be getting something out of you, if I was Mercers I would go and visit someone ignoring there letters. Much more profitable.
But you are right they are just a representative of that company and no more powers than your postman to take money off you!0 -
Hi Angel Cake i had a call from Mercers the other day the guy did mention i was nearing the stage of a doorstop collector and asked if i could pay £40 to stop this. I explained that my concern with paying would be that if CCCS propose a lower payment as part of my DMP (no idea yet what the break up of my money to CCCS will be to each creditor) that Bcard would not agree as i was able to find the money last month. The guy on the other end said ok and asked me to speak to CCCS for advice and get back to them. I was very surprised he just accepted this however that was my first call so I am expected it to get worse. I can understand how upsetting it is the thought of someone appearing at your door fingers crossed it's all scare tactics. shocking that they are allowed to behave this way.February 2013 NSD - 40

Ossireo I think I have something for you re HSBC refusing to deal with CCCS so you get to write your first FORMAL COMPLAINT
This is the link for the OFT Debt collecting Guide http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/business_leaflets/consumer_credit/oft664.pdf
This is one bit to my knowledge from your posts you can get them on:
Deceptive and/or unfair methods2.7 Dealings with debtors are not to be deceitful and/or unfair.d. contacting debtors directly and bypassing their appointed representatives
2.8 Examples of unfair practices are as follows:
a. sending demands for payment to an individual when it is uncertain that
they are the debtor in question, for example, threatening debt recovery
action to 'the occupier' or sending a payment demand to all people sharing
the same name/date of birth as a debtor in the hope that contact with the
correct debtor will be made.
b. disclosing debt details to an individual when it is uncertain that they are
the debtor in question, for example, disclosing details to 'the occupier' of
an address.
c. refusing to deal with appointed or authorised third parties, such
as Citizens Advice Bureaux, independent advice centres or money
advisers
I am sure if you read through it you will find other bits.
Also any of those worrying about Mercers have a butchers through see if you can write a formal complaint to it shows them you know your rights.

Thanks Guys, obviously I hope they do not call. PP have said they only reason they are so persitent on the phone as they get comission for every penny they collect, that would make sense why she got so made when I mentioned Payplan.
PP also said that 'if' somebody called, it is to try and arrange some sort of payment plan, as I am already trying to do this, why would they bother??
As you said RayDay, hopefully they take the common sense approach.DMP Mutal Support thread No 193

That is the whole point of phone calls to make you worry plant that fear of the unknown if you had the money and they were doing it you would pay up so they just try it on. Its not nice, I wouldn't like it hence I was big chicken poo and changed my number before my bank account!
It will all settle down this is the beginning, couple of months down the line and you will forget how you feel tonight.0 -
Thats a fantastic link RayDay many thanks! I think I will draft up a nice letter tomorrow and see where it takes me :j0
