  • Hi All - not been around for a little while, after the initial frenzy of getting the DMP set up etc. I have been well and truly financially exhausted!! Letters have started to arrive, Next, Bank of Scotland and NatWest have accepted the plan, others still carry on as normal, bar the odd default letter.

Most worryingly I chased up the Northern Rock (my largest creditor and who I also have my mortgage with) on Monday as I had heard nothing. The chap said they had received all the info from the CCCS and would look into it and write to me of the decision. Letter arrived today - they will not accept the £83 offered (contractual payment £178 per month). I phoned them and they said that as this will not cover the interest they feel my debt will only increase, not go down. I said would they not consider freezing the interest - no, they replied, that only happens when a CCJ is obtained. What about reduced payments for a short period of time, I ask? They feel this will not help me as the my loan will increase and not go down. Worried sick now, I always knew this NR one was going to be difficult. Should I hang tight till they start any more action or tell the CCCS?

Just when I was feeling positive about it all and pleased with myself for having a credit free Christmas :(
No more credit for me - I will no longer live beyond my means :A

Hey Candygirl. I would send off your letters and also, have you sent the signed agreement back to CCCS? I would say by the sounds of it your DMP will start on 1st January then. But, you need to send those letters and the agreement back to CCCS. They will then send info so you can set up a DD to pay them each month.

    Hope that helps x

NR are the ones I am most worried about! I haven't heard a thing from them yet. When I originally spoke to them in November, they said I would definitely hear from them about it. I don't think I am going to chase them though, I am too scared!! I will just let my payments go through and see what happens. I have made my first mortgage only payment on the 1st December to them and asked them to make sure they apply it to the mortgage only. It's such a scary thing and if I could go back in time, I never would have taken that mortgage out! Oh well, can't look back really..

I have received another letter yesterday from hfc saying they agree to the plan for 6 months only and will freeze all charges, which is good for now. I guess we'll see what happens in 6 months!

HFC have been fine with me - after 6 months they sent me a default and wrote to me asking for full payment again. I phoned them (as they've always been helpful) and they said it was standard practice to do this every 6 months. They agreed a further 6 months on the phone and have been quiet for the past month so I guess that worked (I'm paying 50% of the contractual payment).

The only problem I had with them was stopping PPI, it took them 6 months

Hi there isn't an agreement in the pack and the advisor just told me to send the letters myself to the CC companies so not sure what's going on:confused::confused: I've got the telephone advice but it seems like I have to do all the negotiating myself even though I do have a CCCS number:o

Hmmm, When we had our pack, it had a main letter that we had to photocopy to send to all of our creditors. This was just saying that we were experiencing financial difficulty, that we've consulted CCCS and that they would be writing to them with an offer of reduced payments. Then we had to sign this declaration thing and send it back to CCCS with copies of all our latest creditor bills. They then used that to write to all of our creditors with an offer of reduced payments.

About a week later, CCCS sent us a 5ish page document confirming our DMP, our monthly payments and the details to set up a direct debit.

I think you should maybe contact CCCS again to see what's going on x

    Hi Everyone,

It's been a little while since I had a look in so I hope everyone's DMP's are going well.

Mine has been going fine with CCCS and in January my payments are due to increase to £132 a month.

However, I have just found out I am pregnant and would like to start putting a little more money aside to stock up with baby items. Because of this I was thinking of going it alone and running my DMP myself.

Have any DIYers had any problems with creditors not accepting offers as you are not going through CCCS or Payplan?

    Thanks
