Does the pack have the stuff for the DMP in?The advisor just told me to pay token payments of £1 and he'd send a pack out with template letters to send to my creditors:confused::confused:

The bank charges were earlier in the year, before the court dates. I have not claimed any credit card charges back yet though.

Me neither, but it's on the list!

My head feels mashed with everything most of the time as it is, so small steps for me.

  • Hi all,
We have just started a dmp and have had the usual horrible phonecalls and letters, creditors have recieved our offers and the first reject was a Barclay Loan who said it was 'unacceptable' and the would be passing it on to the banks recovery department.
Is this normal? This is the first letter we have had back and its scary!
We are also in the process of trying to find a new house to rent - so far we only have arrears, will this effect us? It is Homelet doing the reference.
    Any help would be great.

    Hoping for one!

Hi fairybex. We had loads of letters like that at first. It will all settle down but it can take a while and some creditors are worse than others.
At the end of the day, you can only pay what you can afford.
    Who is administering your DMP?
I'm not sure about your rental situation. I don't think all agents do a search with the credit reference agencies or they may be happy with a guarantor.
  • Hi fairybex

It is possible to rent while on a DMP - I've done it within the last year, although I'm not renting now. I mentioned it to the lettings agent but things went through ok anyway.

    Good luck.
  • Hi Everyone

Hope you're all doing ok. 2 weeks today and it's Christmas. I am still as excited as ever. Even though we have had to cut right back, thankfully I did a thrift saving plan, so had money for token presents this year. It's the first year I have not used credit to buy pressies! Hoorah for that!!

So, I am on my first month on DMP. Not heard from everyone, but yesterday I had contact from 2 of my creditors. One was a statement from Barclaycard which, although they have never written to confirm they've accepted, it's clear from the statement they have! They have reduced the interest rate to 4% APR, which is a great drop as I am pretty sure it was 29.9%! And it just says, please continue to pay £XX, which is the amount CCCS offered them. That was good news!

The second was a call from Alliance and Leicester asking if I could pay the full amount of the overdraft within 28 days - i said there was no chance and asked if they'd had any correspondence. They said they'd had my letter but not one from CCCS with the offer. So I told them the amount and then said I'd ask CCCS to resend the letter.

So all going okish so far. Still, can't wait to be a few months down the line!

I would have thought Northern Rock would have written by now, but not heard anything yet. We'll just wait and see.
