Well done MurrayMint.....has DH done his phoning yet??

Hmmn... no! He's on a call out and apparently it's VERY important. [I am drumming my fingers in an impatient manner ;)], but promises he will at earliest opportunity

  • Hi Everyone- I hope we are all well!

I have received some default letters from some companies- I was just wondering what I need to do now. Do I inform CCCS? The content is quite scary talking about the possibility of court etc so it was scary reading them but I'm ok.

Really angry with Barclays as they keep phoning my land line and mobile around 4-5 times a day. It's an automated voice too and the beginning of an automated message that gets left- so frustrating! I spoke to someone from Barclaycard the other evening and they said they would put a note on my account and phone next month to check on everything but the calls keep happening! I'm just about to write a rather snotty email via my online account to see if this helps as am sooo angry?!

Any advice would be greatly received!

In my experience, Barclays don't care....
I was literally in tears in the branch one day - sobbing my heart out because I thought I was going to lose my house (Mainly due to their mis-selling of a personal loan last year).

They will eventually get the message - especially if you're with CCCS - but it will take a bit of ignoring first.

As long as you're doing everything you're supposed to be - i.e. sending the letters to say that you're on DMP and making your payments, then that's what you can do.

Barclays will hassle you for extra money too - but you have to be quite firm and tell them that you are working to a budget, and they are getting what you can afford at that time.
    So there!!!

Good Luck with them - come and have a chat if they get nasty

Hi debt_daisy! If I was you, I'd write/email them and instruct them to remove your telephone number from their database, insisting that all contact be written correspondence due to the level of pressure they are exerting on you by calling. I tried it with one of my creditors and the calls just stopped. Keep your chin up, you're paying all you can, they can't have what you don't have!

Well, had the second interview with PayPlan and things are looking ok.
The wife's debt will be moved first, that the easy one, then, I will be doing mine in december.
We have started cutting back, and hope to be in a position to pay off her overdraft without adding it to the DMP.

New Bank accounts opened, just waiting on Mortgage advice now before we date and return the paperwork.

Were looking to start the DMP in Jan 08.

The only saving grace is that the water company man from this morning told us - unofficially - that we should be able to get the debt written off. Once we've fixed the leak, we need to call them and they will come and do a couple of meter readings, work out our average consumption and then everything over and above should be cleared. Thank god for that! Can you imagine, having to find £750 + the cost of fixing this leak _pale_

    End of rant ;)

Hi just thought I'd mention that I used to work for a major water company and the quickest way to get the debt sorted after the leak is fixed is to take your own readings. If you take 1 straight after it is fixed and then another 7 days after and you call the water company you should be able to get it sorted. It's just that sometimes arranging a reading (let alone 2) can be a pain.

Thanks Dizzie- any advice on the default notices?
As far as I'm aware, just tell them when you get passed to the original creditor to a DCA. You can always ask them to send out you I+E etc again if it's been a while, but I wouldn't worry about the letters. They are sent out to try and scare you into paying more.

    Afternoon all,

apologies if this is an obvious question...

On beginning my DMP I need to send out token paymentsto each of my creditors.
1)how much should these token payments be and should they be distributed as a percentage of what I owe (e.g. if 50% of my credit is with one lender, should i send 50% of the money I have spare to that lender as a token payment?)
    2) one of my creditors is the bank i have held a current account with for the last 7 years. I have opened a basic bank account with another bank, but do not get a cheque book with my new account - how can I send the token payments?

    Any help is much appreciated
