what do I do now, what will the CCCS do? :(
There's not a lot you can do. Hopefully over time they'll accept that that's all they're gonna get. Keep sending the payments and any info on I+E if they request it.

    Good Luck

  • Hi Guys,

Just checking in to say hello and give an update oh and ask one small question :)

Hope everyone is doing ok...i've noticed that most people are worrying about christmas and i must say I am a bit too. My car needed some work and i worried about christmas etc so am not starting my plan until January but I know this won't be the case for the next 13+ or however many years my current plan stands at but am just going to try and squirrel any extras that I put down like magazine money/emergencies etc and hopefully that will add up and be enough! I know for certain that the grocery figure that they insisted on me having was way over what we currently spend but they said I was entitled to the figure so i took it! Will use this money for any other emergencies also and presents etc.

So I have had some more correspondance and paperwork from CCCS. I have a breakdown of what I owe creditors and who is going to be being paid what. Yes the figures are low but not as bad as I expected and things have been pretty quiet on the phone call/letter front from creditors so hopefully this is a good sign- The only ones that have hassled me are Barclaycard. I have had a letter saying i owe x amount this month, and another default letter from them and few phone calls- should I call them back and explain situation and give cccs number etc or do i just let them get on with it and leave cccs to deal with it? Barclays have also put a late payment charge on, as have Abbey for my current account for going over the overdraft last month and then obviously I didn't have the money in there this month- can i just leave these and expect them to happen? i am planning on trying to claim the charges back from them once i am up and running but can do without the stress of that right now!

A few other creditors have written to me to say they have received correspondance from cccs but nothing too scary really just probably a standard letter. On the whole I have foud the CCCS really helpful and particularly quick to respond via email. My only bug bear is the 0845 number that you need to call to speak to customer services but i used 'say no to 0870 site' and found another number which was free and eventually got me through to where I needed. I know they need to make money somewhere for funding but i really could do without a national rate charge phone bill!

  • Hi all

haven't posted for a while as everything seemed to be going OK (been reading with interest though) with the DMP, started in Oct, all creditors seemed to have accepted payments and letters had slowed down greatly, except for Direct Line! Letter after letter saying how disappointed they are that I have not contacted them (to date I have written 5 letters to them explaining the situation), today I received a letter from their Solicitors (Green & Co) saying that they are starting court proceedings against me to recover the money I owe them.

I have written to Solicitors, Direct Line and CCCS again and explained everything again, but I am really worried about this one, it is the worst I have received.

Anyone else had dealings with Green & Co?

Thanks as always for any help

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Hi everyone.

I'm posting on behalf of the in-laws who are about to enter a DMP with CCCS. I'm currently looking through all their paperwork for them and about to help them complete the notification of debt management plan for sending to their creditors. It asks for a reason as to why their circumstances have changed but I'm not sure what to write.

Simply put, they borrowed and then borrowed to consolidate, then they had to borrow on cards to pay other cards and it all spiralled from there. A similar story to most of us I'm sure. But I'm not sure that this is a valid reason.

Can anyone help with what I need to put down on this form for them?

    Thanks so much

    Hi Mola,

I just put that I was "over committed on credit"- i think that's a way of shortening it?

I do agree that it takes time to learn to budget. After all some of us are here because we couldn't budget before and spent to much :o (That's me by the way ;))

However, if your rent, gas, electric etc have all gone up in the last 6 months but your wages haven't then something has to give doesn't it?

I though very hard before I decreased my DMP payment because ultimately I want to be debt free as soon as I possibly can - unfortunately it will take a little longer now.
This is exactly how I feel. I really want to cope on our current budget but it is tough and yes prices have gone up and our wages haven't so it is simple really!

Myself and DH have had a chat and are going to get through Xmas on this budget and they we will nearly be due our annual review anyway so can adjust figures then. I have just remembered that we won't have to pay council tax for a few months Jan - Mar so that will also help.

I completely agree that budgeting is hard when you are used to spending the last 2 weeks before payday spending solely on a credit card. I have to stop and think everytime I take out £10 from the cash point.

I feel I need some support to get through my first Xmas without spending on a credit card and know I will feel IMMENSELY proud when I do it!! Let's all have a group hug!!

O/h and I working to clear debts like most of you - some creditors have accepted plan others ..........

barclaycard have put two of my o/h accounts in my name july/aug this year.
have sent letters reg post requesting original paperwork etc.. along with £2.00 letters sent 20/08 and 10/10 2008. no response from them

This week had a ccj in post re one of the accounts in my name not o/h.
    went to cab today
they advised how to dispute whole amount.
while there they rang barclaycard who refussed to discuss account or ccj
with them or me as account not in my name!! they quoted data protection.
will photocopy paper work and send of to northampton court.

    any advice would be grateful
  • Hi,

Myself and my OH have just entered into a DMP and the negotions are beginning however I have already received one default and a threat of a CCJ - is this just normal proceedings or should I worry. I'm so scared all the time and want this to be sorted, we are really trying.

Also after receiving both these letters we had notice from our landlady that she would like her house back (credit crunch affecting her too), so on top of everything else (partner struggling during his nqt year) we now have to look for a new house. This does mean we can look for cheaper rent but how will a default and the dmp affect us trying to rent?

Thanks for any advice, I really feel like im drowning. :(

    Hoping for one!

Hiya ... Can I suggest you post your question on the "Ask a CCCS counsellor a question" sticked thread also in the DFW board? That way someone "official" from CCCS will be able to advise you!

    Dear All
Forgive me if this is wrong but I posted the below on the CCCS thread but wanted a non counsellor view on it from people who probably been through the same sort of thing:

Hi there, this is my first post so please bear with me.
Myself and my husband have reached the stage where something has to be done. After months of struggling we need to 'get serious' and sort ourselves out.
Ove the last couple of years our money situation has deteriorated until now we are in a place where we have a list of debts that we haven't paid (eg catalogue payments, credit card payments), we're just about meeting the ones that we can pay (mortgage, car loan, gas water etc) and there is no leeway for catching up or improving things.
I have completed the CCCS debt solution and it suggest a DMP or selling up and settling like that (which I really don't want to do). As I know very little about DMPs, am still not really accepting the position I'm in, and also am on a good wage and there are some payments that we've had no probelms with, I suppose I'm asking if a DMP is really the only way, is it as bad as it sounds and are there any viable alternatives?
I hope that I've posted on the right board and that this makes sense!
    All help appreciated
