Hello everyone,
How much do you all budget for these:
Hairdressing
Dentist
Sundries / Emergencies
Entertainment/Hobbies/Sport
Just curious for when my review comes around. I don't budget anything except £30 for entertainment and think I should budget for the others.

Personally (just checked my budget) I have the following:
Hairdressing £20
Dentist £0
Sundries/emergencies £20
Entertainment/hobbies/sport £0
(but that last, I do have £17 budgeted for Satellite, and as I'm a sad git who doesn't go out at all due to being sole parent to a toddler, I didn't see the point in budgeting for something I couldn't use!).
I think the hairdressing and sundries/emergencies were advised to me as "you shouldn't really go over these" when I was setting up my DMP budget online initially.

Just a quickie ..
Post arrived today, and im remineded that I applied 3 weeks ago for a virgin Credit card with a nice new card waiting to be activated.
Called Virgin to cancel the card only to be told "weve already TX. you balance onto it, you cannot cancel"
Now I remember the application, and I did list my existing cards, but i dont remember opting to TX the balance.
Im guessing this "new" card will upset the soon to be enabled DMP ?
Have a meeting with my advisor on monday, and will speak to them, but as its already done, I assume its time to live with it.
secondly, Ive been reading the threads and I see CITi card are probably the worst when it comes to not being understanding about being in financial difficulty, so, looking at my other cards, im gonna consolidate the CITi card onto my barclays card. this will also allow me to move the balance off my egg card too, thus only actually oweing on 3 cards instead of 5.
I also have a company credit card with a few hundred on it that I must clear as my employer would not look favourably on me defaulting the comapny card.
In light of this, im hoping to beable to skip through december, beable to payoff and remove the wife's overdraft from the DMP, Fix the Mortgage on a 5 year plus term before I start the DMPLBM - Oct - 08 DMP Started - Feb -09

Dear All
Forgive me if this is wrong but I posted the below on the CCCS thread but wanted a non counsellor view on it from people who probably been through the same sort of thing:
Hi there, this is my first post so please bear with me.
Myself and my husband have reached the stage where something has to be done. After months of struggling we need to 'get serious' and sort ourselves out.
Ove the last couple of years our money situation has deteriorated until now we are in a place where we have a list of debts that we haven't paid (eg catalogue payments, credit card payments), we're just about meeting the ones that we can pay (mortgage, car loan, gas water etc) and there is no leeway for catching up or improving things.
I have completed the CCCS debt solution and it suggest a DMP or selling up and settling like that (which I really don't want to do). As I know very little about DMPs, am still not really accepting the position I'm in, and also am on a good wage and there are some payments that we've had no probelms with, I suppose I'm asking if a DMP is really the only way, is it as bad as it sounds and are there any viable alternatives?
I hope that I've posted on the right board and that this makes sense!
All help appreciated
For me a DMP has been absolutely the only way to deal with my situation but don't get me wrong it's not easy, you only have to look back through a few recent posts to see that.
If you're missing payments etc then it seems to me you're on a bit of a slippery slope already really, but and this is crucial, you have to come to terms with your position first and you say you have'nt so I would think seriously before you start a DMP. You have to be committed to be able to stick to it.
As for viable alternatives not sure, you could try posting a SOA on the main board, and you'll get loads of good advice on budgetting etc.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
Hi to everyone else, I'm panicing too about xmas, it's going to have to be seriously cheap in our house, think we may have to lock the door and stay in bed till it's all over!
Had a review with CCCS yesterday, went ok, had to add on another debt, joint account, long story and ended up agreeing to pay £10 a month more from January.
Allso the advisor said I should think seriously about increasing the payment even more if possible as my creditors would'nt realistically accept such low payments over a long period of time!
So not really so good from my point of view but nothing I can do about that for now
Hope everyones ok.DMP Support Thread Member 238DMP started October 20080 -
Hi Kudox
Many thanks for your response, when it's stated as clearly as you have done it makes perfect sense to my poor addled brain!:T
I think I'll gather my SOA together this evening and post it later on or tomorrow morning, I'm sure that any tips received on budgetting etc can help me not only with coming to terms with things but also with getting myself in the best possible position to get things sorted
thanks again0 -
I hope you get things a bit clearer, the thing to remember is you have actually made the first step by posting on here, and thats the first step to admitting theres a problem and starting to deal with it.
Stick with the dfw board and you won't go far wrong, it's been a lifeline to me, for one.
Good luck, keep posting.DMP Support Thread Member 238DMP started October 20080 -

Hi guys we have a real problem. My wifes DMP ,independantly ran by us but advised by the cccs ,started this month. Yesterday she paid all those she had details for except for 4 payday loan types who had not responded to her letters so she could not pay by BACS or gyro. Then sometime yesterday she had two of these take around £300 on her debit card, and today we find another £500 gone. This has wiped her out and im going to have to pay the mortgage, food and all bills, something I can ill afford. Is it legal for these companys to do this and can we get the money back quickly? Really need help on this as my wife is in tears.0

I am doing a self admin dmp. One of my creditors is MBNA and they have told me that they will not look at my account or make an arrangment plan with me until I have contacted Payplan and until they have my o/h soa.
Can they do this? I have already contacted the cccs and they have only done my soa as the debt is in my name.
I would like some feedback from anyone else who deals with MBNA
Also is payplan a free fee company? and if so has anyone got the website address or phone number

Hi,
MBNA wouldn't accept my DMP or the repayment offered. They kept adding charges and interest for a couple of months before defaulting the account and selling it on to a debt collection agency called Equidebt. I've had no problems with these and they accepted the DMP straight away. Payplan is free. Google them for their website.
