Hello all
Rayday Don't take the petrol station job - sounds like a mare and remember why we all started DMP's - to have a bit of a life
Andy - well done! Think I'm probably going to follow your lead and take my DMP on myself. Don't have the money to make payment to CCCS on the 1st for a start, but hopefully will have enough by the end of the month to pay creditors myself - well that's the plan (A anyway and don't really have a Plan B at the moment!)
Onto the Northern Rock saga. I have today sent an email to their CEO. They are so inconsistent in how they deal with debtors which isn't fair. I read a couple of success stories on the CAG forums where peoplee had got a really good outcome from emailing him direct, so I thought I'd give it a go! Was polite but firm - resisted the temptation to ask for £3k x 2 to be written off debt as that is MY money propping THEM up! Hinted at it in a round about way tho!;)
I think their lawyers made a bit of a boo boo with the letter they sent me. They basically said that if I didn't withdraw my defence they would proceed with a summary judgement - sounded a bit like blackmail to me, what do others think? I guess they hope people will just roll over - it does seem to be that you have more luck if you fight them, in terms of judges agreeing to DMP's and refusing charging orders etc. We'll see.
Have a good weekend x0 -

I considered taking on extra work but then thought that on the next review with CCCS the extra money would be taken to pay my creditors. I decided that I need to have a life too, rightly or wrongly.0 -
andytwonames wrote: »I went through the figures with CCCS and they said I had to include the unsecured part of my NR mortgage in the DMP.
I was led to believe that my available money would be split between creditors on the basis of account balance
(available money / total debt) * account balance = payment
This would have meant that NR would get MORE than the contractual payment. I thought that was daft but went along with it.
When the final letter arrived from CCCS, I saw that they had done the split around contractual payments.
(available money / total contractual payments) * contractual payment = payment
THAT would leave NR £100 short per month and I didn't want that at all.
The choices were.... Go through all the numbers with Payplan (who never incluse NR togeter loans in a DMP) or take the numbers from the CCCS document and do it myself.
So it's more laziness than anything.
Well, thanks to your advise Andy, I'm going to chat with PayPlan tonight. Really don't need that extra CCJ from the loan section of the Together Mortgage.
Any advise on the type of expenses that PP allow /deny compared to CCCS ??? Am working on my spreadsheet ..0 -
You could be right - it would mean not being able to help out in the school which means a lot to me and honestly is where I want to be working eventually. I just worry about rising prices, like everyone but maybe I should hold off on drastic stuff at least until all 3 of the kiddywinkles are in full time school.
Prices go up.... DMP payments go down
Stuff 'em. The kids need you more than the bank needs your money. You'll be no use to anyone if you get carted off to the funny farm.0 -
Loopy I think you have to fight even if you don't win at least you have pride and know you tried you don't have any of those niggling "I wonder ifs..."
Tass and Loopy you are both right, and to be honest we don't live on the bread line we could be more "severe" in some lifestyle choices espeically if things get harder but I am always concious that we have the girls and I don't want there lives ruled by money. So I am choosing steady debt repayment but life - and to be honest if I was sitting her typing I would be asleep. I fall asleep all the time so nights probably would not be the best its one of those on paper sounds right decisions!
Keep us in the loop Loopy with the CEO thing, I really admire your strength in fighting them its very inspiring!0 -

Have you seen the link that the industry take as accepted living costs?
If not save a post here it is!

Your budget may look a bit more generous than you are used to living on but I urge you to keep it generous and set up savings accounts or pots as you never know what lies ahead especially in these financial times. I have several ISA and that now - if I never need them then fine I can use them for offers to finance companies in the future but its comforting to know they are there.0 -

Take legal advice - quick.
I'm sure tat it's only the court that can decide on summary judgement. You should tell the court that NR are making threats to make you withdraw your defence.
Also, If I'm right about summary judgement, NR have broken the OFT guidelines by threatening a course of action which it is not in their power to take....
Go for them!0 -

Thanks Andy
I am just going to wait and see what (if any) response I get from the email and to my last letter to them.
My old boss (from my first job in a law firm - not the last lot:rolleyes: ) is a nice bloke and I am thinking about going to see him soon if I need to. My dad said he would pay legal bills, but I don't think he will charge me anyway. I worked for him for nearly 10 years and he has a heart of gold really even tho he is an eccentric old goat!0 -

Hang on. I did not give you advice. I told you what I did and my reasoning behind it.
I am not qualified to advise you on which path to take.
I didn't get very far with pay plan so I have no idea what their allowances are. I looked at the forms and thought 'not again!' and decided to do it myself0 -

Thanks Rayday2
I have checked that link before. Just want to double check my figures. It must be at least 4 years since I had a budget for Health(or any type of budget !!!!!).
As everyone else has said, don't take the job. I work 6 days a week and have missed so much with my 2 year old.0
