Well done Andy - I know this sounds daft but your post reads very confident positive and not going to be messed!

I thought you had decided on the Payplan approach - but then again I can't keep up with my own approaches lol
  • That's it. I've started my DIY DMP

Letters to all creditors done and ready to post today (recorded - I'm no fool)

I've told MBNA that my offer is condional on them responding to my CCA and stopping RMA from calling me.

I have written 2 letters to Lloyds and had no answer. I went into a branch the other day and someone there got on the phone to several departments and got some answers for me. My letter to Lloyds today is going in the post but I am also going to hand deliver a copy to a branch.

I have also just made a big saving on mobile phones. Because I am a broadband customer with Virgin, I get a good deal. £15pm for 400 mins and 400 text for Mrs 2names and £10 pm for 200 mins and 200 text for me (I say less). It was subject to credit check and I still got it!

So, a trip to the post office at lunchtime and hold my breath waiting for the responses.

    Hi Andy

What made you do your own DMP ???

Hi all, it's nice to read the posts and see everyone moving forward. I on the other hand have had a bad week! Decided to splash out on a wii fit (cheaper than the gym!) but the realisation of spending that money dawned on me and now I have to cut back on other things to make up for it.

Husbands car got broken into last night, nothing was taken it's just the sheer nuisance of it and probably going to have to pay the £50 excess isn't helping my mood.

My son is going to a birthday party tonight and have to go and buy a present and a card for that too.

Oh well, think I'll start from scratch next week, things can only get better!

    Have a good weekend all

I am in a confident mood today. Getting stuff done is always a lift.

I was going to do payplan but then I couldn't be doing with filling out all of their forms. I've just printed off the figures from the CCCS debt remedy document and done the apportionment myself. I may live to regret it but I'll give it a go.

Hi Simbalou - I can sympathise with you I have just been paid and working out the accounts for the month. I was trying to work out if I can afford to go to M&S at the weekend as they have 3 for 2 on uniforms. Works out as cheap as anywhere else with that offer but better quality.

It is possible but sometimes you get a bit sick of having to work it all out and juggle it. Oh for a lifestyle of food shopping without worrying what to put in.

Last night I was considering taking a job in a petrol station working nights and giving in my youth club work. We would be about £150 a month better off but I am not sure if I can cope with the sleep. My youngest will be in afternoon nursery from September but I am not sure I can survive on a bit of sleep there and a bit in the evenings. That and luckily OH this morning was on one of his rants and I realised its not fair to leave him with stuff he is very helpful round the house but can't cope with mornings and questions from 3 children in 3 different schools on 3 different agendas lol

So I back to status Quo methinks and fingers crossed I get this saturday morning job and also the back pay I am owed for 3 years, my savings account money to land and £500 from my ex!

I doubt you will I honestly don't think companies spend time studying letters and figures hence the reason they are inconsistant. Thats why I reckon I got mine accepted quicker they couldn't phone the figures were there so they just gave in.

    Hi Andy

What made you do your own DMP ???

I went through the figures with CCCS and they said I had to include the unsecured part of my NR mortgage in the DMP.

I was led to believe that my available money would be split between creditors on the basis of account balance

(available money / total debt) * account balance = payment

This would have meant that NR would get MORE than the contractual payment. I thought that was daft but went along with it.

When the final letter arrived from CCCS, I saw that they had done the split around contractual payments.

(available money / total contractual payments) * contractual payment = payment

THAT would leave NR £100 short per month and I didn't want that at all.

The choices were.... Go through all the numbers with Payplan (who never include NR togeter loans in a DMP) or take the numbers from the CCCS document and do it myself.

So it's more laziness than anything.

Don't do it. All the extra stress and inconvenience for just £150 ? It will do more harm than good.

    LOL thanks cloudnine,:)

I didnt really intend it to be aggressive just stating what i think are the facts. I realise this may not change anything but if everyone complained to the FOS re reinstatement of the interest then maybe someone will listen. Then once you enter a DMP they have to stop charges etc.

Other wise what would be the point, we may as well go onto IVA or BR

I pay 221.00 pm they slap on 300.00 pm if this causes me to go bankrupt what effect does that have on the other creditors? Everyone loses out then

So all in all i may as well send a letter - theres nothing to lose :D

Thanks for the advice on calling them i will get OH to give them a bell and try again, he has contacted them before they told him it would take 3 months before they pass it on to DCA but i would like to see if i can get them to take off the amount they have added

Halifax have started adding interest to my account a couple of times. Usually a phone call is all it takes for them to refund it. I think when they ask for a review if you delay at all they just start adding interest. I tend to get a letter every six months or so and have to phone just to say there is no change in the situation.

You could be right - it would mean not being able to help out in the school which means a lot to me and honestly is where I want to be working eventually. I just worry about rising prices, like everyone but maybe I should hold off on drastic stuff at least until all 3 of the kiddywinkles are in full time school.
