OO I am a servis dishwasher so 14p a cycle, and not on a water meter! I use finish dishwasher tablets £1.79 for 20 I think (and a whole tablet at that ;) )

I might start buying those in bulk once a month actually, I do an online shop for heavy stuff like dog food, and I always buy Ariel big box of powder so it could be cheaper switching to Tesco own brand and buying once a month.

But now I am thinking of washing the clothes and drying them in the dishwasher because its cheaper lol

Where theres a will theres a way!

I use whole tablets unless I've run out of money and close to running out of dw tablets!!

I found Aldi/Lidl 5in1 tablets (not just the normal tablets) to be just as good as the finish classic or finish 3in1 - but not quite as good as the 4in1/5in1 finish tabs - so I always use Aldi/Lidl now - £2.99 for 40 ;)

I have a DMP dilemma, it seems on paper that we can afford an increase in payments of about £70 a month - from £220 to £290 - for the next six months. However, this much won't be available April 09 as everything goes up; water and council tax are set to go up a heck of a lot here. But our gas and electric is fixed till 2011 so that's safe.
Plus there's the ever changing balance of my brother might move out (taking nearly £200 a month with him ) - it won't be that much cheaper not having him here!

Do we increase for six months or not?

Are you disciplined enough to save that money up for emergencies etc? If so, then save it. If not then increase till April that could still mean an extra £420 coming off your debts in that short time.

    NO!

Don't spend it either. Save it for a rainy day.

Your energy prices may not go up but who knows how hard the winter will be? You might use more fuel than last year for example.

Newlywed you made me spend £30! I went on that link to get nicely paranoid about my appliances, so my ignorance is ignoring the dishwasher and essential tumble dryers but now I have read horror stories about fish tanks, power surge units etc so I have bought an electric meter!

Well I have 3 months more wages it could save me a lot in the future. Trouble is OH said over his dead body does it come in the house - oh well more money saving!

Large faithful husband free to loving home!

Gems I echo what Andy and Newlywed say really, but you know your will power I would not personally (and this is just me) increase payments when I can see them dropping again. But you are wise and know your own household.

Well I clicked on a picture of a power meter and then from there on did some research and found stories, sorry I randomly wander when people give me links, it was on the ethical superstore site it won't let me put the link on! It was in the reviews where people saved money but then I went for a cheaper one and went through Quidco but I think it will be interesting and good for the planet and purse!
