Are you disciplined enough to save that money up for emergencies etc? If so, then save it. If not then increase till April that could still mean an extra £420 coming off your debts in that short time.

Yes I am, and I'm still holding the purse strings for now :D It'll go off the mortgage as we only have £500-ish to clear of non-DMP debts

  • Gemmzie, I'm with the others, SAVE IT! You don't know what's around the corner.

Can anyone help me, please? (I hope you can understand this question) ...

When I send an Income and Expenditure sheet to the creditors, it shows our surplus and the fact that this is split between 7 creditors. However, do I need to actually show each creditor who the others are, the amount owed to each one and the amount paid to each one?

    Thank you :)

  • Evening all

Rayday and Newleywed you both made me chuckle about the appliances. I'll not be giving up a washing machine, tumble dryer or dishwasher for anything.

Hi and welcome to want2befree84. Sorry to hear you are having a bad time of it. Have you just started with Payplan or did you start 6 months ago? If you have just started you should find that once everything is up and running the creditors will go quiet and interest will stop. If you are 6 months into things and you are still being harassed then something isn't right.

What sort of harrassment are you getting and by what form? If you don't mind naming and shaming those that still charge interest then maybe we could compare notes and sort a plan of action out for you!

You could if you want to write credit card 1, 2 etc or loan 1. I think mine says LTSB then my partners or my name so its not exact, I always highlight there payment to avoid confussion too.
  • Thank you rayday :) I have done the I&E but so far have only stated the surplus is divided between 7 creditors.

If they need to know to whom and what the payments are, I will do as you have suggested.

I hope you and everyone is having a good day.

    :)

    Morning

I have not posted for a while and I will explain why.

If you dont know I have been on a DMP with Payplan since April 2007. I have 3 creditors First direct , Egg and Argos to whom I owe a total of £27k +. The DMP has been going along very nicely and I have had hardly any trouble whatsoever. I even managed to get a normal bank account with the Halifax with a visa card and an Odraft ( More about this will follow :o). I tried to embrace the budgeting way of life but if I am honest I did not really buy into it 100%.
As time has gone along and the DMP is going nicely I stupidly applied for a credit card and was accepted. Now I know it was Capitol One with extorniate interest but it was nice to be accepted for something and I have used this card and have a £500 limit. The balance on that at the moment is £0. As I mentioned earlier i had an Odraft with my account and all i had to do was click and submit and i have managed to get a limit of £5000:o.
The bad thing is that I have actually used it and I now owe £3k on my Overdraft.

I am aware that I have broken the terms of my DMP and it is all my fault but because the DMP was going so well I did not want to decrease my payments to Payplan and jepordise upsetting my creditors. To be honest to get accepted originally I needed to include my OH 's salary even though she does not contribute to any of the household bills as she only earns £250 a month an a part time job and I have struggled to keep afloat with everything hence the spending on the O/D and paying off of a holiday to the USA in November :o

I think it is time now to confess all of my sins on here because I think my only option is going to be a self administered DMP.

Halifax are not a problem at the moment but they will be and I need to cancel my DMP with Payplan and start being honest with myself and do a realistic I/E to truly reflect my circumstances.I think that I was in such a rush to get my debt paid off that I did not see that ( rayday you have said this many times ) I need to only pay my creditors what I can afford and not what i think they want to recieve to accept my payments.

I am paying £340 per month and I cannot afford this and have a life. If I am on a dmp it is going to be for a while and I still have to live and enjoy life and if it takes me 10 years to pay it all off then so be it.

I thought that you all had a right to know the true me and I suppose you could call this my true LBM and , perhaps , the first one was only on a dimmer switch.

I apologise if I have let anyone down but I need to start being honest with myself and try to get out of this mess.

Think I will download some stuff from National debtline and go from there.

I feel a bit cheeky asking this but do you know how my original creditors will take my confession and lower payments. At the end of the day they cannot have what I dont have and I rent from the council and only have a cheap car so There is not a lot they can take. I am not bothered about CCJ's for the reason stated above.

Once again sorry but I will be on here a bit more now :o

Thanks for reading if you got this far

    PS
. I have been meaning to write my confession for a while now but have only recently had the courage to post
  • Well the phone calls have started... Just 2, but both this morning within about 5 minutes of each other. Virgin called my on a work number . I refused to give my d-o-b but the woman was being quite insistent. I told her to call my home number tonight. Unfortunately I work in an office with 4 others, who have known me forever, we can hear each others conversations and we're all quite nosey, so they will notice if I start getting lots of these types of phone calls! The call actually came through on a helpdesk line, rather than my direct line - it was just chance that I picked it up this time. They will especially notice if I get lots of calls from foreign accents, as we only deal with UK and Germany....

The other call was on my mobile, so I diverted it to the voicemail and pretended that they'd hung up when I answered. I googled the number and am pretty sure it was RBS debt recovery for Tesco. My phone is now on silent!

On the upside though, most of my token payment cheques have been paid out, so they've got my letter. Our MBNA & A&L accounts online show as being suspended and have got a debt recovery letter from a company working for MBNA saying as a valued customer we're sure you'll clear the overdue amount etc, etc

I'm really fretting about too many phone calls to work though! I have been into as many of the online accounts as I can and deleted out all but my home phone number. But some I couldn't...

    Boo Hoo......

P.S. RayDay, I think you're doing the right thing about work for your situation. X

Ym you have not let anyone down, I will confess something now. 8 years ago with my first husband I was on a plan (they weren't called DMPs then with CAB) in fact I still owe one of those companies! And as you know 2 years ago was back into one!

Also small confession I applied for a normal bank account two years ago and it does have a £500 facility and today I am £143 over. I appreciate thats small to you but I don't want you to feel alone :)

Do you really care what the creditors say? I know its easy to say when its not me but they will just have to lump it with whatever payment they get! I would never dream of demoralising you further but get your hard hat ready with it being Halifax from what I have read on the boards! Make a nuisance of yourself and I am sure they will play ball eventually!
