I remortgaged two months ago after being on a DMP for two years. The whole point of having a DMP is being able to afford your mortgage and living costs so you really need to get in the mind of thinking what is important is being able to live now and try not to worry about credit histories.

If I recall correctly, our friend Pinky has another worry. She doesn't want her OH to know what's going on.

Have you told him yet Pinky?

Der dum, der dum, der dum (theme tune to Jaws, could you tell? :D )

Well had my first letter today from a catalogue company saying they are sorry to hear of my dilemma and will accept my management plan and payment of £9 (reduced from £50) and will freeze any interest for 6 months :T

So far so good eh? but I do feel guilty as I have said many times I always used to pay on time, made the minimum payment etc ok I was juggling debt to pay it but why do I feel this way?, is this normal?

I'm officially one of the gang now, thanks Rayday! ;)

Dunno if it's normal but it's certainly daft to feel this way.

All the money lenders are big clever institutions, much more financially savy than the average consumer. They had access to all the information they needed to decide whether or not to lend us the money. When we get close to our limits, what do they do? Lend us more. They are greedy and in some cases they get their fingers burned. TOUGH!

My answer is "When I took out the loan, I did not lie on the application, you (the lender) could see my level of debt if you cared to take the trouble to check. I thought I could afford the loan and so did you. We were both mistaken"

    Bottom line.... Stuff 'em
  • Hi Toffee Penny, bet your glad you are off the starting blocks now.

I do know what you mean about feeling guilty, I was the same as you, paying min payment on time (robbing peter to pay paul to do it though). One minute I am feeling guilty, then depressed , then the weight of the world has been lifted.

All this must come with the territory! I am sure, once everything is up and running, we will start to feel OK.

Just wanted to let you know, you are not alone!

I am still waiting to hear if anyone has accepted....will keep you updated

I don't feel guilt because I want to pay back every penny I owe I just want to do it in a way that I can afford to live and provide for my family.

I have no idea why I got so much credit including a mortgage FTB one year I must have got credit to the tune of £85k up to then it was only one cc with a limit of £250 - madness but I could have said no and I would again!

    Hi All

Just another update, we now have received 3 acceptances :j . They are all small debts but still great news.

Due to make 1st DMP payment end of this week at Post Office, we are paying £475. Does anyone know how much extra we will pay the post office.

I have received alot of phone calls last week from Halifax and Lloyds TSB (we have CC, Loan and overdraft with TSB), they are saying they have not received anything from CCCS, but when I rang CCCS they advised that they sent the paperwork on 3rd June so the creditors need to give it 4 weeks ! Not sure what to do as feel that I am in the middle.

    Anyone else had this ?

Amazingly Lloyds never get letters - but they get cheques and payments weird that!

If it goes on to long offer to send them a copy by recorded delivery but you would be suprised how many people have experienced the same thing.

Hi Shazand, we must be going through everything at exactly the same time. We have now had 3 acceptances, Tesco, First Direct Current account and their visa card. Tesco loan for over 5k and the first direct accounts are both for £500. Feels nice now everything is moving.

We've had endless calls from halifax but because they are automated I ignore them and they seem to have stopped now.

I think I read somewher (not sure where) that the charge for the first post office payment is about £3, I could be wrong so don't quote me on that.

A few of my creditors haven't acknowledge receipt of anything and send letter demanding payment (A&L and Morgan Stanley), I'm going to give them another week until I have done my first cccs payment and then call them all up to tell them again what is happening.

Thanks simbalou, I agree, it does make me feel better to see things moving ( I am not the most patient person) ;)

Ok, good to know about the charges, I was worried that the more you pay the higher the charge. I will wait and see if someone else comes back.

I had exactly the same, in addition I was called sometimes twice a day by Lloyds saying they had no contact from me. In the end I think it took 5 attempts by the CCCS!! It's flamin ridiculous and I wish I knew how to get people to stop using Lloyds (and Egg!! - grrr!).

I don;t know if the answer is to ask CCCs to send you what they are sending to Lloyds, and then YOU send it to Lloyds registered post?
