Thanks for your advice on the Bank Account rayday. I am sorry to seem insensitive, your post about your foot must have posted as I was writing mine! I hope you're not feeling too horrendous...

And I saw Kate Moss in person not too long ago. While she is beautiful in magazines etc she looked what my two male mates described as 'haggard'. Tell you what, if your foot doesn't get better I will make every effort to find the magic airbrush they use on her pictures and send it to you. How is that?

I would love a photo of me air brushed - I just hate to see myself in photos.

Good luck with the bank, take it you have worked out who you can have accounts with that are not joined? We are waiting for news on a new bank account seeing as Santander keep buying everything in sight. Spotted on the news yesterday though that Tesco will soon be independant that could help a few in years to come if I am still here :rotfl:

GHOST - You had a question a while back about 3rd Party payments from your benefits. I can't find the post (sorry, coffee hasn't kicked in yet), what did you need to know?
I vaguely remember doing something similar years ago for a debt. Income Support arranged to pay the debt directly from my benefit. (Utility I think). They won't do it for most things I think but gas & leccy are essentials so I think they would do it for that.
You can PM if you need to.

    Hi Rugbymum

Yes I did. My question was about the fuel bill. We are with e-on had a bill last week that showed we were in debit of alomost £400 with them, no idea why unless its price hikes!

Tried to call e-on to make some arrangement and they wouldnt help told me to call benefits and speak to them (first id ever heared of it quite bizarre feeling really to be told by gas & electric supplier to go to jobcentre lol)

Anyway I did call benefits and explained to them, they sent an email to 3rd party deductions about it and I am still waiting for a call back.

I am only on Incapacity Benefit (£300 a month) and e-on have written to me since bill to say my £50 combined gas & electric DD isnt enough they are putting it up from next month's (August) collection to £133 a month  There is no way I will afford that I am struggling with £50. I am trapped to ditch and switch else I will have to pay £400 lump sum to clear debit before I move to another supplier :(

My question was I had never heared of 3rd party deductions and wondered what it involved as I dont have barely enough to live on as it is without benefit being taken off me.

    Thanks

    :)

also, have looked back in the post and can't find that link which tells you which banks etc are linked together...could someone post it again?

    Thanks xxx

PS I DREAM of a dishwasher! My mother and grandmothers would be horrified if they know how often I wash the dishes! (or don't, more accurately...)

http://www.payplan.com/debt-library/miscellaneous.php thats the link the groups they are listed in are the famalies, remember though that abbey will be with A&L and also GE Money will be in there if you have store cards.

Getting a dishwasher tidied my kitchen over night - and bathroom I wash anything in there - I have the cleanest bins in South Yorkshire :rotfl:

As for the jar only you can answer that one, its annoying me at the moment if people paid me what I was owed I could get some fab deals on a dishwasher. I saw a bosch posh one even told you want time your pots would land for less than £300 and everyone I speak to recommend bosch. The first one that died was a Beko only lasted 4 years, the one I have for 99p was a servis and is apparently 7 year old - and very green!

My very, very dead dishwasher is a Bosch. I've had it forever and it has been very badly abused over the years. I would recommend happily. If you ever get rich go for a Miele. Ten year guarantee!
I hate washing by hand. Unfortunately I am also aware of all the nasties that lurk. I'm a chef and I've just qualified to teach Food Hygeine/Food Safety. I'm using so much hot water and being on a water meter I know that my washing up bowl uses the same amount of water as my dishwasher used to for 1 load (day's worth of dishes!).

Good news..... I have finished paying off utility debt!!!!:j I now have to decide if I should stick with prepayment meter. Had a good look around, other companies are offering better deals with a PP meter. No big surprised with bill I guess.
Only three weeks till Council Tax bill IS PAID IN FULL!!!!!:j
Rubymum, reading your posts make me feel so much better. It's lovely to see someone getting through paying some debt off.

I just checked my PayPlan Justabank account- it's changed from the waiting for confirmation page that was there since the beginning- and now has the total amount of money I owe- with a date for completion.:T I was really excited about this- no idea why, but completed a little dance around my room. I've also been told not to focus on what samedaycash want to do, that if I pay what I intend to pay (as there really is nothing more I can do) that we can deal with them later.

I'm still really stressed, but a lot more positive today!

  • Hi again

I just wondered if people had a suggested budget for us for our food/cleaning for the month?

I know it sounds crazy but I have no idea as we do usually just go week by week with what we have left (some weeks more than others depending on what gets paid out) and also naughtilly we rely on the cash hubby earns so we dont keep a track of it

Although I have discussed this with hubby last night and am going to get him a notebook so he can make a note of all the cash payments he gets. That way then we can for once get to see what his weekly income actually is. Obviously cheques go direct into bank account so theres a tally there already its just the cash that slips in and out of his back pocket. ;)

Fed up of the number of 'official' forms I have to complete which ask his income and I have no real idea of what it is. Weve lived for so long like this and the income from the business has been put back into the business to keep it afloat so just break even for so long and he not draw wages its beyond us to answer the question of how much he earns!

A simple step though to getting him involved with finances. So quite chuffed it didnt explode into the usual argument/guilt trip. :T Hubbys also opened up a new basic bank account as well. We have decided NOT to have a joint account and NOT to have a dedicated 'business' account but just an account in hubbys name. He will use it like a business account money in, money out, Direct Debits etc. and keep it separated from his own comitments so we can keep a watch and have a clear 'business' record. He has cheques made out to himself anyway as we dont currently have a business account, just a joint account. Not that I want my name on this account but until the overdraft is cleared I cant take it off and I cant take it off anyways with the current bank as he already has an account in his name only, they wont allow more than 1 per peson so their suggestion was a joint account used as business.

Thankfully though were now moving banks so can start again in some respect.

Anyway sorry to ramble but felt explanation justifyable.

So a shopping budget for 2 adults and 2 dogs any suggestions? Once I get a rough idea I can repost a revised SOA and then complete my DMP proposals, with all your help and support.

    Thanks

    :)

Jvic - No I didnt keep the statements once the bill has been cleared and I have checked the items are not fraudulent.

    Thanks

    :)

The only reason I asked is becuase it makes it so much easier to reclaim when you have kept the statements. I can't believe how many people don't keep this information, I always keep statements as you never know when they might come in useful (obviously, as long as they are kept in a secure place).

GhostHunter - 3rd Party deductions will liase with E-on and come to an agreed amount that they will deduct off your IB. In the total amount a percentage will go off the arrears and the rest will go towards your current usage. It does mean a deduction off your benefit, but as it's deducted at source it will keep E-on off your case. If you don't go down this road and you cant afford to pay the DD then they will force you to have a PP meter. Do you have kids? If not they can be quite nasty, threatening to cut you off & stuff.
If you contact E-on NOW and ask for a PP meter then you have a lot more control about how much to pay off the arrears.
I had the same situation with E-on. I called them and asked them to put the meter in. The lady was fab. Told me how much (minimum) they would accept off the debt and told me how much we use in an average week. I then decided to pay a wee bit more off the debt and asked them to set that on the meter. I knew that I could then reduce the amount if necessary. I rounded up the average weekly usage and then built up a bit of credit on the meter.

  • Hi Rugby

No we dont have kids sadly (im desparate, but maybe better not to have them at the moment?).

Do you have any idea how much they may be looking at deducting? I only get £300 a month as it is

Cant go on a PP meter I doubt lanlord would allow it, same as water meter, we are privately rented and looks like the property may be up for sale in a few years anyway.

    Thanks for info.

    Hello

Im currently on a dmp with the cccs and ive had a reply from one of my creditors - Bank of scotland to do with the loan i took out of £20k.

They refused cccs offer and have now sent it to blair oliver & scott but they have added £5k worth of interest to the loan which from my calculations is the full amount of interest i would have paid if id have kept the loan.

Is there anyway out of not paying this £5k? it seems really unfair that ive told them im really struggling and now they have made my situation much worse by adding £5K to it!!!!

    pls can anyone advise me?
