What a terrible dilemma and there's nothing much I can add to what the others have said as they all make very valid points.
This country has had it now and if I had the money I'd be moving away from here too...there are no prospects here for your children.
I hope you can work out in your mind what you want to do and follow it through as uncertainty isn't a very nice feeling.hugs to you xx

hi chev I feel for you, I really do.

I moved continents and it is really difficult.

All I can do is echo what others have said.

If I had the chance I would opt for AUS not the UK, very difficult jobwise, weatherwise, costwise etc

The wedding might have to go by the wayside (I think that is for the best)

    Sending good vibes

I can only give you that and hear so much good advice above here. I know beign away from everyone is very hard (my distances are nowt compared to yours!) but they're all right we're in the middle of a really bad recession here. Fuel/food etc is so expensive.

The kids - hmm - we'll I'm dsylexic, the kids are dyslexic too - I know that's a juggle but if you can get your head round it at home - Moo's right - with the right application they'll do wonders - I'm not dismissing it at all but my DD has straight A's - can't spell to save her life but she shines - shes a creative thinker and smart as a button. DS well, he's similar but doesn't apply himself at all - so he's managed to 'scrape' into a college south (nice enough, but he can't be a**sed - hopefully he'll plod along and be happy enough).
Some of the greatest minds of our time are dyslexics! I know you're worrying but they'll have their own strategies to cope and you can help them with that. Both my kids are at different schools, one great, one not so great and they both did reasonably well - infact DD is at the poorer school and she has just shined. Its what they make it too. xx OK I didn't get a Phd in the end but I've managed to get a lot of good qualifications without even knowing until recently I'm dyslexic. My brain just thinks differently, theirs will work in their own lovely way too, its not necessarily a curse - often it makes folk more free thinking and creative.

OH - hmm - if you think you made a mistake, can you look into a holiday in Aus with 'eyes' really looking to see if that would be a better place to be. I'm a real if it doesn't work look at the options for fixing it kinda gal - can you check it out. And, if you really did think you made a mistake going can you 'eat the frog' as RT would say and start discussions of how to 'fix' change or work things out to find a new solution for you all from a new footing now?

The wedding - as others have said - so not a priority for you right now.

And I love the advice -tell your mother you're moving - classic - just put her off - its not worth the stress right now. Or ignore it all!

I really hope you find a way forward - the UK's been the wettest its been for years, in serious recession and if it were me - I'd be thinking of elsewhere but I know how it feels to be homesick.

I hope you find some peace in there, somewhere.

Oh pingu if only it were so easy lol.

Time for lists I think. Really can't be arrissed but still.

    Sort out car insurance
[STRIKE]Sort out house insurance[/STRIKE] Was actually the cheapest to stay where we are.
Wrap present and write card and letter done
    Cuddle bunny done
Do chicken stew for tonight. done was a bit bland though
Try and write something for my course even if it is rubbish.
    Finish baby blanket
    Watch olympics
    Re photograph stuff for trademe.
    Post parcel off yes

That will do for the week I think.

I strained a back muscle today, just sitting up in bed boo hiss. So no volunteering today.

I guess I just feel resigned. I don't feel there is anything I can do to influence my situation and that is hard.

So I guess it is just to make some sort of start....
I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
  • Hi Chev, I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling in a good place at the moment. Life seems to have thrown you a bit of a curve ball and you're still trying to work out where it's going to land.

I think you need to sit down with your OH and have a heart to heart about how you're feeling and what you're thinking. He may not even have a clue. I know this happened to OH and me a few years ago when we moved from England to Scotland. I find it sometimes help to put it in writing; you can think about what you want to say without emotions getting in the way plus you won't miss anything out.

I feel like you need a {{BIG HUG}} right now.

Chev, look at the advice you give other people. Listen to yourself. There is nearly always something you can do - it may not have the end result you really want, it may not be something you have thought of before, but there are things you can do - you just have to get yourself in a place where you can see that and start doing them.

Have you actually told your OH how you feel? It is no good assuming he will know, or you think he should know from how you act or the little things you say. Tell him straight, with no ambiguity.

Try to do something today to give you a little lift. Something just for you (back permitting!).

    My thoughts exactly.:o

Chev sweetie - chin up - best foot forward, one in front of the other. Just breathe in and out and move a tiny bit forward.

Agreed, do something lovely for yourself today even if its a peedie sit down for 5 mins.

I know its hard, but try to be nice to yourself.
