The thing is that this time the earthquake has been far more traumatic for people. On another forum someone was saying how there 14 year old child was on the 3rd floor of their school and watched the building next door collapse. Then when she got outside she saw dead bodies in the street. People were already struggling to try and cope with the aftermath of the September earthquakeNow her daughter is a complete hysterical wreck.
She's going to have to be kept close until after the aftershocks have gone away.

I am glad my mates husband is ok. I didn't know but he workes only 2 miles from the epicentre. He is fine thank heavens, but it took forever to get home last night. they have now declared a state of emergency (not just the city) and basically told everyone no work or school for at least 3 days. But 80% of the water system is offline, so they are tankering water. Death toll is now 75 with 300 missing. But they have just bought someone out alive of one of the collapsed building, so we are still not giving up hope.
One really nice touch is that the pike river miners have asked that all donations to them cease now,and any money to instead be donated to Christchurch....

So sorry to hear about this terrible tragedy chev......and thankful you and yours are OK.
My mum has arthritis in her spinal column and other areas. Her consultant has put it down to her not being given HRT during menopause. Lack of oestrogen = lack of calcium and resorption occurs from the bone thus weakening it.
Vit D and soya products are often recommended for ladies going through the change to help maintain better calcium levels....a recent survey showed a surprising number of people had below normal levels of Vit D (and part of that can be down to not getting enough sunshine......)
Until recently osteocare was always put forwards as well with its concentrated calcium (funnily enough it is now also being touted to treat guinea pigs with sudden paralysis in the back legs althugh my own vet is a bit dubious because of the possible efects caused by a sudden flushing of the gut with a high level of calcium ions) Go figure.
Anyhow glad you;re plodding along.....and agree with possibly looking for an alternative anti inflamm. (I can;t take NSAID's and when my back was wrecked I found diclofenac pretty good for pain)
Onwards and upwards Hun

The christchurch situation is not going to go away any time soon. Appaently they moved 30000 tonnes of silt out of the suburbs yesterday. The student volunteer army have been absolutely fabulous shovelling this stuff and helping where they can..
Today our school is having a mufti day for the quake fund. On Friday the school had earthquake drills. This really brought home to me the reality of living here. OK we are 450 miles from Christchurch but the fault that has gone off in September and now is a new one. The nearest active volcanos to us are White Island (By tauranga) and Ruaphehu in the centre of north island. But the nearest dormant (not dead volcanos) are 40km away in Auckland.....
People have said oh but you would get some warning. Well sometimes yes you do, but not always.....ho hum. Keep calm and carry on.
So the plan for this week
1) Look for jobs
2) Look for a new house to rent
3) washing hokey cokey
4) Sweep floors (have already vacuumed:A)
5) wash floors
6) walking school bus 3 times
7) volunteering 2 times
8) swimming at least twice
9) listing listing listing
10) finish my knitting
11) chase up address to send baby caps off to
12) pay $50 for DS2 touch season (DS1 doesn't have a school team currently)
13) find DS1 some swim shorts
14) books nurse appt for veruca
15) remember haircut for DS's tonight
16) check whether we can get 4 tickets to the final
17) do a meal plan
18) play on the DSi so DS1 understands that is IS OURS. We just got it between him and me, so I must make time to play on it!
19) Remember togs for scouts this week.

Sure there is some more stuff, but this will keep me busy enough this week. Not sure where I am going to fit a part time job in LOL.

The job thing is so frustrating. So many of the part time jobs want you to start at 08.30. You can't drop the kids off at school til 08.30 so how are you supposed to manage that. If i pay for pre school care I probably wouldn't make enough to make working worth while!Sigh. I think going back to college might be the answer, then when I have finished I will have both children at secondary school and I can work full time.....
OH is away in Mexico for the next two weeks with work. So that should be fun....
