Keeping a look out for you mate0 -
Hi Gemmzie, we are in Essex. What's an ABC bond? Council don't think they can lend us the money as we are already £18,000 in debt. I know we can pay this all back as we are reducing our rent by half by selling up (mortgage + 2nd charge costs us £2000 per month - rent should be less than £1000) plus OH is getting a better paid job which will mean an extra £500 per month we can throw at our debts.
It's just not having the readies....YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)
really....it's not hard to understand :T0 -
Does your area have a credit union???
My daughter was in a similar position to yours and she was advised to try the local credit union, and they loaned her the money, so its worth a try.
good luck0 -
It's instead of a deposit, they call it different things in different areas. It's paid by the local council instead of you paying money, then when you can afford to - you can pay it back and return to having a normal deposit.
I'm not sure on the eligibility for it, but it's worth finding outNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
No idea what a Credit Union is or whether there is one nearby, but thanks for the advice. I'll do some investigating.YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)

Based on a months rent as deposit and a months rent in advance your rent is going to be £1,750 a month?
Edit: Just read it should be less than £1k. So why do you need £3.5k? :undecided0 -
Hi SS....no....the rent will/might be £1195 per month. Thats 1 x month in advance then 1.5 x months as a deposit and the rest for EA fees, money to take it off the market and to hire a van for the day.
We are hoping to rent for less than £1000 but might need to go slightly over...YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)

You've tried asking the bank for an extended overdraft?

Nothing you can ebay/carboot?0 -
I doubt the bank will extend the overdraft as they've been sending us letters as we are unable to pay towards the debt with them already.
We will be carbooting in the next week or so and I'll let you know if we raise £3,500
Joking apart, we might be able to sell our american fridge/freezer (a year old), cooker and washing machine to the people who are buying our place, but it's only a might. They are not FTB and have their own stuff already. Depends if they prefer ours.
It just seems so silly - we can repay the debt, we just need a bit of a leg up at the moment.YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)
