Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week when it comes to housework, or just the motivation to do the dreaded housework tasks you have to do, come and join us, hopefully make it a little easier. You never know, you might start to enjoy it!
Following requests to start things steadier for new members who did not realise the tasks list wasn’t a must do, just an encouragement. There will now be level 1, 2 and 3. Level 1 being very basic it has been requested that this is just one task per day, level 2 in the middle, up to 3 which is more advanced and time consuming. If you want to do level 2 you add the tasks on level 1 with the level 2 tasks, if you want to do level 3 you add the tasks on, easy peasy. Choose a level to aim for but be realistic, if you’ve got a busy day on or are just starting etc aim for level one, if you get higher then great, if not then not to worry its only suggestions. Every room comes back around next week. Trust me some days I'll only be doing level one myself.
THESE LISTS ARE ONLY SUGGESTIONS AND NOT A MUST DO LIST, ALWAYS WELCOME TO POST AND FOLLOW YOUR OWN.
Also adding a declutter mission each day. Another one where it’s up to you if you want to do it or if you need to. This follows requests from members who are looking to declutter. Fling boogies, hotspot clearing, cupboard sorts, drawer sorts etc will all be on this list. Any problems with this of any suggestions do please let me know.
A few of the basics before we start the week
Hotspots are any areas which if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!
Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc
Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.
27 Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a binbag and whizz around the house finding 27 items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.
Swish and swipe means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis
HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!
5GC five minutes gardening.. make it lovely for your spring flowers and sowing

Yay - I'm first!
Hope to be in this week in my usual 'as much as i can manage' fashion! I'm away wed night with work and not back til quite late on thurs so might have to swap things around a bit.
we're back from 2 weddings this weekend and totally shattered. DH is watching cricket and I'm reading and surfing on here whilst laid under a blanket on the sofa. beans on toast or something similar for tea i think. do need to do the tesco order though, i've checked the meal plan and listed what we need - just need to make sure we don't have any of it already! my major task for this week as well as the usual lists is to photo and ebay turbo list a pile of stuff that is overtaking the spare room. Hoping to make enough money to get a sofabed for in there so we can get rid of the old futon. also need to make lunches for tomorrow before i forget!
so:

PS apologies - Thanks to pigpen for fred
- 2 cakes baked (but I cheated and used bake in a box ones )
- WM and TD still on
- Big chook and JP in oven (only me and DD here for lunchtea)
- Upstairs all swept as couldnt be bothered to drag hoover upstairs
- Took all DD's clothes that need ironing upstairs and dumped them in her room telling her I'm not doing them until she does her room.
- Swept all the carp in her room into one corner so that at least the clean clothes wont get mucky again
- kitchen floor swept where I'd given doogie hair cut
First though, opinions on this.
OH is going away early hours of Tuesday morning until Tuesday next week
I normally go to work around 7.20 getting a lift in with a neighbour to save on fuel costs as work 15 - 20 miles away, return at about 4.45
DS (16 in July) has finished his exams so will be at home doing nothing
I have asked DS if he is willing to take DD to school and collect her each day
This would save me around £40 in childminders fees, plus if I took her there I would also need to take the car to work costing me approx another £35 in petrol.
Knowing what a little madam DD (9 going on 19) can be, am I being fair in asking DS to take her. He seems ok with it but knows what she can be like
CheersMortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -
Where has the day gone?
You know that little one liner on my personal weekend list - the one that went something like 'sort out the paperwork in the toybox and throw away anything > 7 years old'?
Well, it took me five flipping hours and the shredder overheated about 20 times! It was all old accounts and bank statements and things. The accounts (earliest 1994) were complete with every receipt and invoice so I had to inspect EACH ONE just in case they had a CC number or bank account number or anything else sensitive on them. If they did, they were shredded. If they didn't, they were torn in half. All went in the recycle bin which is now nearly full!
I knew there was a lot of old stuff in there but didn't realise it was THAT old. I've not been in that box for about 3 years because it's always had the fishtank on top of it until I rearranged everything after the french doors were done.
Also had a visit from DD and her bloke. Now the initial visit has been done, seems there's no stopping them! They took the dog on a walk in the park and she managed to find the muckiest, smelliest, dirtiest ditch possible and went for a swim. DD phoned and said to get the hose pipe ready which I did. But, I made DD do the shampoo and sponging! DD's bloke was really good and held the dog whilst I hosed her down afterwards. He ended up rather wet too! But he took it all in his stride and even stayed for a cup of tea afterwards rather than disappear at the first opportunity.
But, duck is in the oven roasting, giblets are cooking for stock for the gravy and my ebay items finishing today are doing better than I expected
I'm about to get the ironing board out. Onwards and upwards1I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Me no want to tidy!
My foot hurts because I was out gallavanting all day. Did borrow my mum's vax though. We have a beigey/fawny carpet on the stairs and DS2 decided it would look much nicer in yellow and green spoldges with black accents. I told him it doesn't match the wallpaper sweety...
Oh my... DS2 has fallen asleep on the sofa sitting up... Tried taking a pic but my camera is on the blink I think. So cute!0 -

Of course you're being fair! Perhaps you could make it fairer by offering DS a little financial sweetener - say £20 for the week?I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

:rotfl: Already done that - he wouldnt do it for nothing :rotfl:
He wont be the problem, she will. If she doesnt get her own way she sits down and goes on strike. I've had to call OH when I've walked her home because she sits down and wont behave because I wont buy her choccy croissants on the way home. Mind you I have threatened her with Grandma staying if she doesnt behave :rotfl:
Will come back later as this is NOT getting anything done

That is not unreasonable.. I used to take and collect my 2 sisters from being 15.. every day just about. I collected my youngest sister up until she went to high school!!. and my mother would collect her from my house on the way home from work.
I'd have her on a bribe.. ie .. you behave well EVERY DAY for DS and you can have a treat at the weekend.. or if you misbehave you won't do whatever she likes to do.. and I'd offer him a sweetener too.. bit of pocket money for him.. mind you if the exercise is to save cash it might not be a good idea.
